Surgeon Testimonial

Thomas Borland M.D.
I have been very impressed with Dr Borland from day one. He has a very good way of communicating which puts you right at ease. He schedules the consultations as the last appointment of the day so that you can spend as much time as you want and ask as many questions as you like. He does the VSG as an outpatient procedure because he feels that like other surgeries that have been moved to outpatient, you reduce the risk of blood clots when you do this. After having my surgery as an outpatient I think it is just how it should be. I had discomfort but no real pain so i don't think a hospital stay was necessary. He does require that you stay local for 2 nights so that he can check on you. Dr Borland made 3 House calls to me, imagine a Dr today that does house calls! Overall I would rate him very high in both his surgical competence and his bedside manner.

My Journey
A truthful recount of my sucesses and failures

6 Months , how things have changed
on April 22, 2009 5:20 am
Today I am 6 months our from surgery.  What milestones have I reached?

1. I can cross my legs easily, and keep them crossed
2. I have energy
3. I feel confident when I am in a crowd
4. I am comfortable in somthing that does not go all the way to my ankles
5. I went from a 18W to a Size 10!!!!
6. I can go out to dinner and enjoy myelsf without gorging myself
7. I took a family picture for the first time in almost 5 years!

I am so happy with my loss to date and am down 59.5 lbs and know that the future is evcern brighter than I can imagine.  I hope to reach my goal by my one year anniversary and with less than 30 lbs to go I think that will be easy.  My weight loss has become a little more eratic this month but that is OK.  As long as I lose an average of 5 lbs a month I will be able to dance the victory dance.

For you newbies out there.  Dont stress that you are losing slower than you want.  As long as you work your tool you will get there.  Those of you considering the surgery, GO FOR IT.  it is the best present you can give yourself and your family.
