I'm like most of you and have struggled with my weight for most of my life - slowly getting bigger after losing on each diet I try!  I've been married to DH for 21 years and have three great kids - two boys almost 19 and almost 18 and a beautiful girl 9years.

One year later...
on August 26, 2009 2:39 am
 Hey there,
So, one year out - can't actually believe it was a year ago - but it was.  I wish I'd lost more - still sitting around 85kg and am not happy with that but from where I've come, it's not so bad.  I just need more motivation to stick to it all the time - including weekends etc.  BUT, I wouldn't go back.  I have healthier habits generally and feel so much better.

My goals now are to lose at least another 10kg, to become more fit generally and to continue becoming more active on a day-to-day basis.  We're also hoping to adopt another child from Taiwan [our 10year old is adopted from there].  It's a slow process but hopefully we'll get there in about a year's time!   I definitely wouldn't be looking at this if I hadn't lost the weight so it's all working together for this to happen - at least I hope so!!  As you can see I'm very excited by this prospect - it just seems a long way off just now but the last year went quickly and I guess the next year will also!

Trying to stay on track!

Ok, so the pouch test didn't work so well - I did the shake days but found the mushy protein to difficult to organise again!   Anyway, after two days of shakes I did think the pouch was tighter so that was good.  Trouble is, it's been Easter and I ate too much chocolate  having given up the wine!   I can't eat much compared to before (get too sick) but any is really too much now!   Anyway, I'm less than one kilo from BMI 29 point something which will make me happy for awhile.  I seem to still be losing about a kilo a month or maybe a little less now.  It really seems so slow and the weeks I'm 'good' don't seem to have any more weight loss than the weeks I'm not so good!!  I'm definitely in need of something to replace the pleasure I used to get from food - told my doctor I might start smoking but not seriously!  I wish I could get pleasure from exercise but I really don't!  I'm walking a bit with my new dog - Buddy - but not enough.  I'm just so lazy when I get home and get everything that has to be done, done, all I want to do is lie down and read a book!  I was suffering from severe anemia there a few weeks ago [probably built up since about Christmas] but have had iron injections and the levels are better and should be ok for a couple of months.  The anemia was much more debilitating than I would had thought it would or could be - SO TIRED!!!

Support group was great on Saturday and I've been counting more protein this week so hopefully that'll help things as well.

Next time I update hopefully I'll be BMI 29.8 or less - can't wait!

A new start?
on March 28, 2009 6:44 pm

So long since I wrote and so long since I lost anything really!  I'm now about 88kilos and am going to try the 5-day pouch test to see if I can jump-start things again.  I do feel I can eat a bit much but not significantly - I know I have to be more careful of certain things and that some foods will 'slide' on down quite nicely - most of those leave me feeling sick if I have much though so I'm not sure why I'm not losing so much??  Oh, it could be the wine - got a bit reliant on that for a while but have realised it and put a stop to it for now anyway.  I'm so keen to be in the 'overweight' range and not the 'obese' range and I'm only about 2kg's off that - maybe in the next week or two?

Will keep you posted!

Home Again!
on January 26, 2009 1:02 pm
It's taken me a while to get back on but here goes!

We had a wonderful time in China - I lost almost 4kg (haven't lost any in the three weeks since we got home, though!) without really trying.  I think the slow way of eating in China really suited me but we can't always take that much time to eat a small meal in the real world!

New school year starts today - back into the 'busy-ness' of life.  Hopefully I'll stop picking at everything I see and will lose a few more kilos this term.

Ok, time for school.
