I am a 36-yr. old wife and mother of a 2-yr. old. I am awaiting scheduling of my Rou-En-Y Gastric Bypass surgey any day now. I have completed all preliminary paperwork and have been approved by my insurer with no problems. I am very anxious and excited to undergo my complete metamorphesis from the inside out. So until I receive a call from Carrie (Dr. Lowe's scheduler), it's hurry up and wait!

I've Got a DATE!!!!

I received my date for surgery and it is 1/23/2008!!! I am so excited and a little concerned. I started my liquid diet on 1/10/08 and have been struggling just a little bit! I have been very irritable

and cranky

to those closest to me but with the help of God and my family, I'll make it through.

I meet with Dr. Lowe on Wednesday, January 16th for pre-op meeting and the Anesthesiologist Friday, 1/18/2008 for pre-op testing and lab work.

Things have been moving so quickly, abd I am nervous

about the unknown. I've never taken this journey before, but I put my life in God's hands and ask that He walk with me, before me and after me through the process.

Please keep me in your prayers

as I go through the process next Wednesday, 1/23/2008 and beyond!!

I'll provide an update once I get home from the hospital!

Transformation Timeline

1/7/2008 - Spoke w/Carrie (Dr. Lowe's scheduler) and she said that she would call me when she got to her desk either tomorrow (1/8) or the next day (1/9) to schedule my surgery, she thinks it will happen sometime first week of February since she is currently scheduling for the last week of January.

1/2/2008 - Spoke w/Michelle (Insurance Claims handler) at Dr. Lowe's office and they have received my approval letter from UHC. Michelle will have Carrie contact me to schedule my surgery.

12/29/2007 - Received approval letter from UHC for WLS

12/20/2007 - Spoke to UHC rep and was informed that I had been approved for WLS and that I would receive a follow-up letter soon

12/19/2007 - Psychologist sent recommendation letter approving WLS to Dr. Lowe

11/20/2007 - Completed lab work at LabCorp

11/12/2007 - Underwent Psy Eval

11/7/2007 - Initial WLS consultation with nurse practiotioner at surgeon's office

My Story

I have been overweight for most of my life. As I think back, the last time I had a "normal" weight I 12 or 13 yrs. old. My mom was very thin as was everyone in my family and constantly badgered me about my weight

making me very insecure and uneasy about my appearance.

This is the second time that I have visited the WLS route. I have had many *haters*,

oops, I meant critics over the years regarding this decision that I have decided to pursue. My mom and my husband are my biggest supporters right now. My mom keeps flip flopping back and forth regarding the surgery, but it seems like she is finally on board 100% now. My husband wants me to do what will make me happy and healthier in the long run.

I just want to be able to enjoy ripping and running with my 2-yr. old daughter in the park with out feeling drained and tired all the time. She deserves a fit and healthy mom to be around for her, and at the road I have been traveling, I wouldn't be in the shape to do this. I also want to feel beautiful and confident and be able to cross my darn legs in a meeting at work! I'm tired of holding my bladder to the point of explosion because I am afraid to get up and walk in front of a room of people because what they may think or be saying in their minds about me.

No more excuses, now is my time to take control of ME!
