My Story

Where to start?  Not overweight as a toddler....had tonsils taken out at 5 yrs old and the best I can remember, I started gaining weight from that time.  Turned 16, add the fast food drive-thru windows and just kept gaining.  The older I got the more health issues popped up.  At 27 yrs old, I was diagnosed with Diabetes, breaking bones when falling out of a big rig, and being diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Dz.  Over the yrs, went from taking oral meds for Diabetes to four insulin shots a day plus oral meds.  Also taking meds for high blood pressure and cholesterol.  

Started doing research on Bariatric surgery six yrs ago, went thru all the pre-requisits, had a surgery date for the RNY and found out my wife was pregnant.  Now we have a four yr old who I want to be able to do "simple" everyday things with as well as take and enjoy family vacations.  Decided to talk w/staff at Duke Metobolic Wt  Loss Center.  Finally met the qualifications for insurance company and met with Dr. Sudan.  He recommended the DS in my case.
