My Story

 Hi:  I guess I haven't actually given a description of myself.  I am 58 years old, been married to the same man for 39 years, a mother of 8, and a grandmother of 11.  I have struggled with weight since my early 20's.  I would lose 20 to 25 lbs and gain it back and more.  Since my hysterectomy in 2003 I have had a much harder time keeping the weight off even taking hormone therapy.  I am not sure if that contributes to weight gain or not but i have struggled with the extra 35 to 40 lbs since then.

I like to sew and quilt.  I haven't had much time recently but it is my hobby.  I like to spend time with my family and I hope that weight loss will give me more energy and stamina to do the things I want to do and keep up with those grandchildren.

 I was not comfortable with the RNY since I am not a spring chicken anymore and I was concerned about the risk of osteoporosis due to malabsorption so I didn't want to go that route.  I was glad when I found out about the vertical sleeve because I felt this was the best choice for me.  

I have already lost 36 lbs and am getting use to the sleeve.  It isn't as hard as I thought it was going to be.  The restriction really helps me control the amount of food I eat.  I still, however, want to eat those things that are forbidden.  I hope this gets easier with time.

No regrets at this point.  Excited to get to goal one day.
