Surgeon TestimonialGarth Davis, M.D.When I first met Dr. Garth it was for a consultation and then again for my pre-operative visit prior to surgery. I truly view him as friendly, a little down to earth with a confidence air to himself. His staff is welcoming and efficient, they are supportive and work hard to address your concerns. I never really experinced any problems with his services, besides a run-in I had with a staff member, but that was resolved due to their wonderful customer service. If seeking for a Doctor: selecting Dr. Garth would be a great choice, he's a well known Doctor who has been adknowledge for his skill set. Evenmore, has operated as one of the Surgeons on Discoverey Channel's \"BIG MEDICINE\", he's perfectly capable of doing a stellar job. Dr. Garth doesn't specifically emphasize aftercare but his staff and all the information your provided does, it's important that you educate yourself beyond what the Doctor requires you to know. What I value about Dr. Garth is that he was right up front about some of the risks that can come with having the RNY procedure but also positive in highlighting the benefits that came with it as well. From a scale 1-10 I would rate him an 8, he could use a little more humor in the office...Lol. Overall, when it comes to surgical competence and bed side manner, both are high on my list and from what I've been told and soon to know for myself, Dr. Garth is all of that and more.

My 2wk Pre-operative Liquied Diet "LD" on December 11, 2009 11:48 pm
"OH” I just begin my liquid diet this Monday. Now! At first the diet posed to be a challenge for me but after the first day, I knew I had this in the bag. Ok!.............I'll keep it real, the last few days I did have some moments were I felt, nauseated , a small burning sensation in the pit of my abdomen and a minor headache . These symptoms are typical and is really is nothing to get ALL radical over. However, if your reading this and on the “LD” and feel not so up to par, ignore my statement and call or get medical attention. Overall I feel great, I have no complaints. Let me give you what I call the Liquid diet stages. Day 1 is the "Holler stage" , the body (appetite), mind, and eyes want to eat just becuz it can't. Day 2 is the "Empty stage" during this time I felt helpless , I knew if I wanted to eat I could but the joy of the surgery before me wouldn't allow me. For us emotional eaters, this helpless feeling could be beneficial, it forces us to deal with are "issues" ; whereas in the past we would have fed are faces thru it, for others you just may error . That’s alright, dust your feet off and start again the next day. Day 3 is the "Reality stage" this is when it hits you that eating food is not an option and that the weeks ahead will be similar to what you’re feeling now. I tell ya, this "LD" had me running the restroom all day at work and all through the night.
"OH" I’m “OUT” I will post another Blog of my week 2 liquid diet exp. Much luv
