I am a female-to-male transman who teaches high school mathematics for Austin ISD.  My insurance unfortunately excludes weight loss treatments and surgery, and am hoping on saving the money for the next 2 years to be able to self-pay for VSG surgery.  I am currently working on my masters in mathematics education, and will finish summer of 2012.  I have been obese/morbidly obese since I was a child, and my dream is to one day be able to fit in "normal" chairs and be able to buy clothes off the rack, and to wear swim trunks without a shirt...one day.

surgery is 1 week away!

i've been waiting for this moment for years. i have been morbidly obese since i was in high school, and this feels like i'm dreaming.  someone pinch me!

Aug 7th Surgery Date Set (God willing)

After years of trying to get this done, I have finally put in my down payment of $1000 with Dr. Alvarez for my VSG surgery!   The date I reserved is Aug 7th.  Since I'm a teacher, that seemed like the best date to do it since I will still have about 2 weeks to rest before teachers go back to work, and about 3 weeks before the kids get there. It feels so surreal.  I can't imagine myself skinny.  I've been obese pretty much all my life, and morbidly obese pretty much ever since my mom died 15 years ago.  Boy, has this been a trip.  I am scared, but I am also very excited to undergo this journey.  I hope my mom and my grandma send me all their blessings from up above.  Can't wait!
