Portion Control Plates
on February 16, 2010 12:59 pm
I ran across these today ....they help you with portion control.  However I would switch the "carb" and "protein" sections.  (BC Of Course you need more protein than carbs)

DR APT TODAY - 10 MONTHS POST OP
on February 12, 2010 6:52 pm
Ok, so I have been having problems with reflux for the past 3.5 weeks.  Today I had an ultrasound on my gallbladder (I have gallstones), blood work, chest Xray, & a Barium Swallow (YUK).  I get the results of everything on the 25th, but heres the good news:
THE DR TOLD ME THAT MY STOMACH HASNT STRETCHED A-N-Y !!!!!!!!!!
OMG I was like, "are you sure???" LOL.  He said, "how much are you eating at a time" and I told him that I measure my food and eat either 4oz or 3/4 cup per meal (depending on the food) and he told me that I was doing fantastic b/c my stomach was still only 4oz!!!! I am just SO happy to hear that, b/c I am always worried im gonna stretch that sucker back out.

My weight is at 185, so I have as of today lost a total of 93lbs post surgery, 113 total.  Wow that feels good to say!  :-D

The only new thing that is going on with me is that I have started drinking 1tsp Organic Apple Cider Vinegar 3-4 times per day (mixed w a little water).  I am drinking this to aid in my reflux recovery (and so far its working!) Some ppl say it helps with weight loss as well, so we will just have to wait and see about that one lol.  {the only problem with this: when you work out and you sweat, you smell like the vinegar :P but ive heard eating a handfull of sunflower seeds per day is suppose to help with this body odor)

Daily Vitamins I take include:
-Omega 3 (1-2 pills per day.  the pills are large, so depends on my pouch's mood)
-Bariatric Choice Lemon Bites Calcium Chew
-multi vitamin (I personally use one a day active & have never had any deficiency)
-bioten
-b12 liquid (GNC)
-probiotics (1 pill per day, I use "pearls" {GNC or Walmart})
-Ginger Root (1-2 pills per day, it helps your tummy be happy :))

I buy GROUND flax seed at GNC (a big tub is only like $6) and I put 1/2 - 1 tsp on almost everything I eat.

My FAV Drink is Crystal Light HUNGER SATISFACTION Strawberry Banana.  I buy this from walmart; it tastes great, it makes you wanna drink more water, and each pouch has protein AND added fiber!! (gotta keep those # up ppl)

Anyway - I hope this helps y'all; anything I find that works I like to add it on here to help out anyone that might need some advice :) Everything I have learned I have learned from trial and error, so.....I hope you find it helpful! :)

My Story

Basically I have been overweight my whole life - even as a child.  For some reason the past couple years it has just gotten out of control.  In 4 years, I gained 114 pounds! (having a baby had a bit to do with it, but i cannot use that as my crutch anymore).
My husband is military, and THANK GOD Tricare insurance pays for it 100%.  (although you have to go through about 8 months of classes before they will give it to you) Anyway..........My surgery will be April 27, 2009.  I having the sleeve, and CANNOT WAIT!! I have lost a total of 7 pounds on my own so far.  This site is so inspirational! I'll keep my progress posted! :)
