Treading Water
on October 28, 2011 7:48 pm
I am totally feeling positive about my choice to have the lap band done. I am nervous but, positive! At this very moment I feel like I am treading water.I am sure everyone of you can understand. I have gone to my surgeons seminar a few years ago but, have to take it again. I have made appointments with PCP but, they are out in the middle of the month. I have to have 3 months supervised weight history for my insurance. I have done weight watchers before but, of course can not find the information. Contacted their headquarters and they said it may take several weeks. The nurse at my surgeon's office said that from what she understood bank statements or receipts would work. Going to round those up.
3 Things I am so very thankful for:
1.I may have to round up information but, it looks like there is insurance coverage.
                2. Every person I have contacted has been supportive and very nice.
3.I have found this forum and know I will make some life long friends!

My Story

Hi I am Jen. 36 yr old wife and mother. I am on the lightweight side with a BMI of 35.1. I started looking into Lap Band surgery in 2009. I had went to the seminar with a friend and decided that I was not "big" enough and I should work harder to control my weight. I am about 30lbs heavier than I was 2009. over the past few years I have weighed much less and much more.My problem is my weight is out of control! At this point I am suffering from pain in my left foot and knee( i take Advil almost every night)...that comes and goes with the weight. GERD, HB and sleep apnea. Now my thought is do I wait until I am 40 BMI or higher and see what conditions I have or end this now. I have done so much research that I feel I am fully aware the the band is a tool not a save all. Like any other program I have been on I hope I can do this! Like the rest of you starting the process I have crazy thoughs going through my head of band slippage, infection, food getting stuck etc. I also have crazy thoughts of feeling great when I walk in a room, not dreading a lecture from my doctor, enjoying the gym!!!  I guess it is the risk I have to take to be the HEALTHY person I really WANT to be!
