Surgeon Testimonial

Nissim Geron
At first I was sceptical as I was really hoping to have my surgery (revision) in Jerusalem but after the original surgeon cancelled my op, I was back on the search.rnWhen I returned, Dr. Geron was direct and honest about the risks in this being my 3rd WLS yet comforting at the same time.rnThe office staff is nice . My only problem was that I needed the secretary (and the surgeon was on vacation) and she was out due to a family death. But when Dr. Geron returned, I met with him in his office -and not his clinic.rnPeople in Israel needing a revision should know about him and his hospital. Not everyone should have to go only to a hospital in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem to get quality care. It also exists in the northern part of the country.rnI have my 2nd appointment after surgery coming up. As my incisioned opened to a seroma, I am seeing him one week after release from hospital and then two weeks later.rnWhen in hospital, the dietician sat with me for more than half an hour privately while I was hospitalized explaining and answering my questions.rnThe surgical ward is smaller than some other hospitals I had visited. This contributed to a \"family\" atmosphere between patients and nurses and even the doctors. If a patient happened to be out of the room during Rounds, a doctor would find them and motion for them to return to their room. Nothing was done in rebuke.

And the Scale Moved Left!
on June 18, 2008 4:49 pm
I weighed at my HMO on Sunday after my PAP.  87K-bummer!
I weighed again today as I was there to arrange several follow-up appointments. I got on the scale and put the "bar" at 87 and went into shock that it went down. I called out to the nurse exclaiming that the scvale must be broken. But it's not.
I now weigh 85.8 !
I can't remember weighing less than 88K and that was back in February of 1986.

Looking Good
on June 15, 2008 2:26 pm
Getting complimented a lot on how good I look. Good for my ego.
I was in the HMO today and weighed myself. I am still 87K on the scale but my body has real curvesn owadays.
Today I hung out with my friends David and Arlan. We went to Haifa and also ate out at a restaurant. We divvied up the food and shmoozed while we ate.
I went to the GYN for a PAP and hope to be able to go for a mammogram and bone density. I go back to my HMO office on Wednesday as I need to arramge finances for the allergist, endocrinologist.Tomorrow I go for a bone scan as I have been having other orthopedic pain aside from the recovery from my Ankle Fusion.
Sometimes I think I should just move in and live at the HMO!
I have been eating well as I usually succeed in getting all my liquids in and my protein, but I still fall back on some bad foods. I realize I am only hurting myself and slowing my weight-loss by this behaviour;however the sense of feeling "deprived" is not one I want to experience. I especially find it difficult to not be allowed to eat potatoes amd chocolate and ice cream. Obviously not at the same time. So at times I do indulge.

Clothes are Loose....
on June 4, 2008 6:46 am
My clothes are getting looser and I need to think about altering or getting rid of things and decide about buying other clothes. This will happen sometime after the holiday of Shavuot, when a friend with a sense of "style" and knowledge of sewing can assist me. Some skirts can just have new elastic in the waistband. Tops are a problem. but then it should be cheaper to buy clothes when there is less material.

A Stall or not...
on June 1, 2008 1:54 pm
Not much to post as weight loss is slow enough for me to officially call it a STALL.
I did weigh myself at the doc's:87k.
I eat w/o vomitting and I enjoy my food. I still miss carbs and have not totally abstained from them. Just making wiser choices 92% of the time.
