Surgeon Testimonial

Nissim Geron
At first I was sceptical as I was really hoping to have my surgery (revision) in Jerusalem but after the original surgeon cancelled my op, I was back on the search.
When I returned, Dr. Geron was direct and honest about the risks in this being my 3rd WLS yet comforting at the same time.
The office staff is nice . My only problem was that I needed the secretary (and the surgeon was on vacation) and she was out due to a family death. But when Dr. Geron returned, I met with him in his office -and not his clinic.
People in Israel needing a revision should know about him and his hospital. Not everyone should have to go only to a hospital in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem to get quality care. It also exists in the northern part of the country.
I have my 2nd appointment after surgery coming up. As my incisioned opened to a seroma, I am seeing him one week after release from hospital and then two weeks later.
When in hospital, the dietician sat with me for more than half an hour privately while I was hospitalized explaining and answering my questions.
The surgical ward is smaller than some other hospitals I had visited. This contributed to a "family" atmosphere between patients and nurses and even the doctors. If a patient happened to be out of the room during Rounds, a doctor would find them and motion for them to return to their room. Nothing was done in rebuke.

Am I Getting Cured or What?
on March 28, 2008 3:38 am
I'm working real hard to get in 2L of liquid a day and eat my 70-80g of protein. I drink at least one protein drink a day, sometimes two.
But I have noticed that in the toileting department, my stools are usually yellow which when I googled "yellow stool" it has to do with malabsorption. Considering that I only have 80cm of small intestines, I'm not surprised.
The scale is moving and the numbers are dropping ever so slowly.
Most of my skirts are with elastic so they still fit. However my  tops are showing provocative curves.
The other day aftyer getting out of the shower and standing naked in front of the mirror, I thought, "Aside from the rolls of abdominal blubber, my face looks cute."  I don't think I have thought of myself as cute since seeing a photo of myself at age five!

A New Weight for Me.....
on March 24, 2008 6:49 am
Really I had a clinic appointment only next week but as I was in the hospital yesterday to visit a woman from the Hebrew forum who had a revision to RNY, the surgeon said he'd save me a trip and examined me!
On the scale on the Surgery Department, I weighed 93 k. After my 1st surgery, SRVG, I lost weight from 120k down to 92 1/2 kafter 8 months. Granted that w/my RNY, I started at 101k but it has been a long time since I've seen "low" numbers.
My next appointment will be after Pesach on May 5. My dream is to weigh 88k which is the lowest weight I remember weighing. That was shortly after the birth of my daughter who was 22 in December.

I Now Weigh 97 K
on March 3, 2008 10:44 am
I was at my surgeon today as he wanted to check my incision. It is healing well. I can now just put a dry gauze on if I want.
He weighed me and I am down to 97k. That is an average of a kilo a week. Don't know if it will keep up (or down) like this for the duration of my losing but it is better than my other experiences.
I mentioned my frequent diarhea and the doc told me that as I had such horrific adhesions, he bypassed most of my intestines and I only have 80cm and my surgery is like a DS in that respect. Well that explains a lot!
My next appointment at the surgeon is in a month.
I hope to go back to my volunteer job at the library as of tomorrow. I need to get out but I might not stay as long as I used to in the past for my 1st time back in a month.
