Surgeon Testimonial

Peter Frederick Crookes M.D., F.R.C.S., F.A.C.S.
First met Dr Crookes in January of 2007 at the USC seminars. Knew instantly he was the Doctor for me. a no nonesense approach who demanded his patients know what they want and why they want it. You need to be fully aware of your responibilties and the risk. You can not be in better in hand than Dr Crookes, hes amazing. The hospital staff was great the PACE people make sure you are well informed and USC even has a support group that meets ever month that is run by the RN and dietician from the bariatric dept. His staff(ESPI) even got my insurance to pay for my VSG, which is pretty rare these days. You will be very pleased you chose USC and Dr Crookes, he saved my life

Wednesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ JudyAnne

The deed is DONE !!
posted on 6/7/08 8:28 am
Finally sleeved on June 4th 2008. Was scared and nervous leading up to the day but knew the results if I did nothing and the benefits far outweighted those.
The one piece I would anyone getting ready to do is, get as physically fit as possible, follow the doctrs pre-op instuctions to a T and WALK WALK WALK. Its made all the difference in the world for me. Once I got that first walk in the cobwebs from the anesthia went away and I instantly felt better. Also you need to be mentally tough, don't let the discomfort win and keep you in bed, get up and move.

3 days out and I have had no pain meds post ops and no gas issues, I walk(ed) everyday and feel almost like I did pre-op at this point. Should be back to work within 10 days of surgery, as long as the Dr agrees.
The drinking thing really blows my mind, pre-op I would and could drink a 20 Oz bottle of water, soda or anything in 2-5 minutes, it now takes me 4-6 HOURS and thats really working on it. there will be plenty of adjustments in the future I am sure.

Can't let this go without giving a final and much needs Thank You to all my friends and family who have completely supported me throughout the process. Love you guys !!

Clearly cannot say enough about my lil magic man, Dr Crookes, he and his entire staff have been AMAZING !! the entire time
