I was introduced to this site on 12/29/07 by a former classmate.  Most of my time since then has been spent on here.  Of course, that will change once school is back in session but for now, I'm hooked.  I have been inspired by viewing before and after pictures and visiting various pages.  Many of my fears and concerns have been calmed.

I am just beginning my journey to a healthier me.  So far, I have consulted with the nutritionist, had several pre-op tests completed, others scheduled, and I have an appointment on January 10th to meet with Dr. Singh.  I am exctied and nervous.

I am a 33 year old wife and mother of 2 beautiful girls.  I have been overweight ALL of my life.  Ok, not all.  The first 2 years I was average size for my age.  But after that, I went from average to fat, obese, morbidly obese, and according to the BMI calculator, super morbidly obese.  I rarely share my weight, my husband doesn't even know the exact number.  However, right now, it's do or die time.  And so, my journey begins...Watch out world!

So...
on July 28, 2009 9:28 pm
yesterday, I go to Victoria's Secret looking for this 100 ways bra or something similar because I have a dress that is low in the back but of course I still need a bra. I ask the chick about the bra and she says they don't have it there but they do have a 5 ways bra and a 7 ways bra.  I tell her what I need, she asks if she can measure me first, I say sure (pretty confident in my accuracy).  Anyway, as she's measuring me, she asks what size bra do I currently wear.  My response, 38C.  She continues then says, I'm measuring a 38B.  WHAT?  Stop playing.  I went from a 42DD to a 38B,  I'm still in denial because I have on a 38C and it fits well to me (closes in the front so it pushes the girls closer together).  Today, I prepare my clothing, take my shower, get dressed, and face the reality that the chick may have been right.  I put on my cute 38C turquoise and black satin push up bra and STILL had room at the top.  Ridiculous!  I guess it's back to the bra store I go.  BTW, the bra was what I needed but did not work well due to the excess skin because it wraps around the stomach.  That would only create more problems.  Now, I am going to get the one with the tape on the sides.

Enjoy!

A Long Time...
on June 29, 2009 7:58 pm
I can't believe how long it's been since I logged in to OH!  It's ridiculous. I have been doing well, still not at my goal but not far from it.  It's about time to consult the plastic surgeons for consultations.  Without the excess skin, I would have exceeded my goal but currently, I am 14 lbs away.  I added some recent pics, thought I changed my profile pic but apparently not.  I'll come back and visit more often.

Put on the sexy shoes...
on February 8, 2009 9:24 am
As I was looking at before and after pics, I noticed that many people are still wearing the same style-less, "fat people" shoes.  They are acceptable every now and again (i.e. when you're sick) but PUT ON THE SEXY SHOES.  You can not be 175, dressed to kill from head to ankle and then have on some ugly flats or sandals.  Step your game up.  That's all I'm saying.

202 lbs.
on December 26, 2008 8:25 am

Today is my birthday and I am so excited and filled with emotion.  I am 34 years old and this is the smallest I can ever remember being.  200 plus pounds at 16 and more than double that age, I am smaller.  Who would have ever imagined?  I can not contain myself.  This is the first year in a LONG time that I have been excited about my birthday.

Happy Holidays!  Happy Kwanzaa!

I MADE it.  100 pounds GONE forever!  This has been a good week, the weight has been falling off.  I am sure that I will come to a point very soon when it will slow down again but I am enjoying this.  39 pounds to go to make my goal...that's doable.

My Story

Where, oh where, to begin.   Let's see.  When I was younger, I remember the pediatrician telling my mom that if she didn't do something to control my weight, that I would be 200 pounds by 16.  At 16, I weighed in at 200 lbs.  The most weight I've lost at 1 time was 50 lbs.  That was in 2000.  I started at about 299 and went down to 249 using a low carb diet and plenty of exercise.  Not long after the weight was off, I got pregnant.  I gained every pound back plus some.  It took 3 years to get back down to about 280 lbs.  And guess what, I got pregnant again.  I found myself back up to 300 lbs.  A year later, I lost 20 lbs., back down to 280.  And got pregnant AGAIN but I had a miscarraige.  I vowed that before I lost another pound, I was either getting my tubes tied or my husband had to have a vesectomy.  We opted for the latter.  With 2 c-sections under my belt, it was his turn.  He missed a day of work and was at the movies with his brother the night he had the procedure.   I would have been barely able to move and out of work for about 6 weeks.   Men have all the luck.  Well, between 2004 and now, I have lost and gained and lost and gained.  Usually only 20lbs either way.  It has been a roller coaster ride and I want off.

On December 11, 2007, I hit my all time high (or low) at 312 lbs.  I felt HORRIBLE.  On December 20th, I was down to 307, with the help of phentermine.  I'm sure I've gained some of that back over this winter break.  I go back to my pcp on January 8th.  I will update my weight then.  Ok, a new alI time high was hit when I went back up to 314 lbs. in April.
