Surgeon Testimonial

Eliot Sieloff, M.D.
'I met Dr. Sieloff under rather trying circumstances. My surgery had actually been schedule with another surgeon who backed out 2 days before my scheduled date. To say that I was upset is an understatement. When I called his office and explained what happened and why

I had RNY gastric bypass on July 21, 2006.  It has been the best decision that I have made for myself.  I have more energy and feel younger than I have in many, many years!

September 3, 2007
on September 3, 2007 3:17 am
I went for my second plastic surgery consult.  When the surgeon was examining me and showing me approximately what my arms would look like after having the skin removed he told me I was tiny!!!!  I HAVE NEVER BEEN CALLED TINY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!  Actually I told him that and he repeated that I was.  What I wanted to say was WOW I love you.  LOL  But thankfully I didn't!  I will hopefully find out the date for my lower body lift this week, it should be either the end of September or the beginning of October.  This will be done in conjunction with Dr. Sieloff repairing my hernia which is actually an incisional hernia from a previous surgery not my RNY.  I cannot tell you how excited I am to take the next step on this journey.

As of today I have lost 134 pounds since surgery and 157 from my highest.  Overall I feel great.  My cholesterol was normal on my last blood test!  I was very excited with this news.  Of course some of the other numbers were a little off.  My liver function test was a bit high but from what I have researched that is not out of the norm for us.  Hopefully this won't prohibit me from having my plastic surgery.  That would suck especially since patience has never been my strong suit!

One year anniversary
on July 23, 2007 5:07 pm
I cannot believe how quickly this year has gone by!  It has  truly been metamorphic.  I have lost 129 pounds and over 106 inches and am at a normal BMI.  I now wear a size 10 and actually bought a size 8 pair of pants.  (that was a real WOW moment!)  But I have to say it is more than just the reduced size.  I have a much higher energy level and confidence level  (although truth be told that is something that I am still working on)

The people that I have met on this journey have been amazing.  The local support groups have been so helpful.  What a great group of people, always willing to share ideas, problems and solutions.  The folks that I have communicated with from OH all have played a part in my success.  THANK YOU ALL!

Now comes the more difficult part, maintaining.  I believe I have established a good foundation, learned how to eat properly and how to make healthy choices.  Exercise has become a part of my life, something that was never a part before wls.

I have gone for my first plastic surgery consult and will be going for one more before I decide for certain.  Hopefully I will be able to start down that road within the next few months to complete the physical change.  Mentally I believe it will always be a work in progress.  After 52 years I didn't expect this part to happens over night!

Today I am a few days past my 11 month anniversary and down 127 pounds and 101.75 inches!!  All I can say is WOW has this been an unbelievable ride!  There are a few foods that still do not sit well for me so I avoid them.  But otherwise I am doing great and feeling great too.

Today I am 10 months out from surgery.  I have lost 121.6 pounds and 95.75 inches.  Overall I feel like a new person!  My blood pressure is normal (no more meds!), my  joints don't hurt when I walk, and I feel great!  Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would ever reach a normal BMI, but I have.  And never in my wildest dreams did I think I would enjoy exercising, but I do.  The natural high that I get from exercising is amazing and it really feels good. (I actually like sweating!!!)  All I can say is WOW!

My Story

When I started my journey looking into WLS, I was 51 years old, married with two children; a son 23 and a daughter 22.  I have struggled with my weight for 46 years.  As a child I was told that I didn't have a weight problem until I had my tonsils removed.  That was at age 5!  To be honest, when I look back at my school and family pictures, I don't see a heavy child until I reached high school.  But, in my mind, I was always heavy and always struggled with diets.   It became a self fulfilling prophesy.

The first time a doctor mentioned this surgery to me I emphatically said NO, I could
do this on my own.  That was 10 years ago and too many diets to mention later.
Now I realize that in order to have a healthier, long life and I do need the tool
that this surgery will provide.
