Wednesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

Hyperthyroiditis
on March 5, 2008 8:59 pm
Well I have been going through some problems in the past 3 weeks.  My neck started swelling and becoming veru painful.  I was not able to raise my voice which is essential in being a teacher.  It just got worse every day.  I was feverish, in pain, very fatigued, shakey.  So anyway I found out I have Hyperthyroiditis.  So they gave me some pain pills, a steroid shot and sent me home.

Calcium and thyroid (problems?)
on February 10, 2008 12:56 am
I know it has been awhile since I updated my blog, but it has been so busy at work.  I finally found out why I have been soooo tired!  I had my labs done last week and a few things popped up. 1) I am very low on calcium and my doc wants me to start taking 2000 a day plus vit D.  2) I am low on vit B12 and I will start getting a shot every month for a while.  I had one yesterday and I really feel the difference in my energy.  3) My doc is worried about my thyroid.  He tooks some blood to find out the levels.  I hope this is a easy solution to a potential problem.

The good thing is I have started to lose again.  I took advice from my best friend and started back on only protein and up the water intake.  Wish me luck!

My Story

Ok, this is my story.  I haven't always been overweight, when I was little I was a skinny little thing.  I started gaining my weight after my daughter was born in 1988.  I was a young mom dealing with a horrible marriage and food was my solution, my happiness!  I divorced soon after my second child and raised my children on my own while working, and going to school.  All through that time I used food as my companion.  I moved to Georgia to be near my parents and met a wonderful man, married and had a beautiful son, finally graduated from college (yes, I am finally a teacher) I am very happy with my life!  But, I still have not learned how to not use food as my companion. Through the past 20 years I have tried every diet you can think of; Weight Watchers ( a 100 different times), LA Weight loss, Phen-fen, Adipex, South Beach, Bestlife Diet, Oprah's and all the insane eat only 1 food diets (grapefruit, meat, veggies) and all I have ever lost was 25lb at one time.  I exercise here and there.  Sometimes it is great week 3-5 times a week and sometimes only once or twice a week.  I am usually pretty active person but lately and what has made me finally come to this decsion (I have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma, aches & pains) I have been slowing down and feeling tired all of the time.  My health is going down hill.  I am not going to let this happen!  I finally found a wonderful husband, I am starting a brand new career that took me 10 years to graduate and I want to have the energy to enjoy it!!  I can't wait to have this surgery so that it can help me by using it as a tool to get healthier, to have more energy and enjoy my family and new career!!
