Surgeon Testimonial

John Mecenas
As of 8/3/06 I am still in the process of being approved by Dr. Mecenas. My first impression was. \" this young doctor is knowledgable and confident. Great, I made a good choice\". He was prepared to go over every aspect of the surgery, the good and the bad. Dr. Mecenas has strict guidelines to be approved by him for surgery, for the pre-op requirements, for the post- op requirements, and for the rest of my life. He left no possible questions unanswered. All of his requirements made me feel confident about the surgery and so pleased that he has complete attention to detail. Every staff person was warm and professional. They have never made me feel uncomfortable in any way.rnrnAlthough he has not yet performed my surgery, I give him the highest praise. Talking to his post-op patients I have learned that he will go beyond the usual call of duty for his patients. I know that most patients will give compalints if they have had a problem.rnrnSurgical competence plus bedside manner are both important for physical and mental well being. I am pleased to report that Dr, Mecenas has both.

Hi Annette, I am Annette, too! I am a newbee and I was surfing and found your site. Just wanted to say you are such an inspiration! And I will be praying for your hernia surgery, too. I am looking at having my surgery RNY in November and I have so many questions. I am not sure where to start to get my answers...Maybe you could tell me how to get started. You have so many friends and support. That is so wonderful. Again good luck tomorrow.

My Story

October 20, 2006

Another day closer to surgery and day four of pre-op diet. I don't mind this at all. The shakes are tasty, filling and make me VERY thirsty so I drink more.

Every now and again I get the weepies for no apparant reason. This morning it happened when I listened to the song, "Power of Love" by Air Supply, which played as I walked down the aisle on our wedding day. I pictured Tom standing there looking so handsome in his Tux, but pale as a ghost. Both Mom and Dad escorted me to him, DAMN how I miss them.  His sons, all 3 handsome like their Dad, my daughters looking elegant in their soft pink gowns. They were a perfect compliment to my dark red gown. Enough of that or I'll be bawling again.

My pre-op physical is with the PA Chuck, not Dr. M. That seems kind of strange. Dr. M has only met with me, ohhhh .....  once I believe. Sure hope that he operates on me and not somebody else.

Meg warned me that while in the hospital I may be offered straws for drinking.  I am to remember to tell them NO. Maybe I shall write that on my body with magic marker.

that's all for now.  Catch you later.
