on January 24, 2012 7:27 pm
On Jan 18 was my 6 mos post op appt. Doctor told me I am one of their sucess stories. I have lost close to 70% of my excess body weight. I have lost 69 lbs.Whoo Hoo!! Even though I have hit a plateau for about a month now. My doc said all my blood work is excellent from my AIC, VITAMIN LEVELS, CHOLESTROL, BLOOD PRESSURE, AND MY ENTIRE BLOOD PANELS. Best news ever. My muscle tone is excellent and i am losing alot of FAT.
Since surgery I have am now eating 800-1000 calories, 70-90 grams of protein, 64oz of water trying to increase to 100oz a day. I exercise an hour to hour and half of zumba. I feel great!! I know i look different but in my mind ifeel i still look the same I have gone from a size 18 to a 6/8. All in all I feel like a SUCCESS!

FINALLY!!
on September 13, 2011 4:33 pm
It has been 8 glorious weeks since my surgery. I have lost 31 pounds so far. I have been doing exceptionally well since surgery, taking half of my insulin, blood sugars under control, and off my blood pressure and cholesterol pills. Whoo HOO!!My biggest complaint is the reflux but it's tolerable.
Well yesterday after weighing in, I was feeling GREAT!!! So i decided to go into my chest of clothes that i have had hidden away for 5 years in hopes that i would one day fit into these clothes again.  OMG, After five yrs I fit into about 3 outfits..I DID IT!!!
For the rest of the outfits i need about another 5-10 lbs to fit into them comfortably. I'm so thrilled. Yesterday was the best day ever!!!

reality of surgery
on July 26, 2011 8:59 pm
i was truly excited and afraid to have my sleeve gastrectomy. i have many medical conditions, from type 1 diabetes, antiphosolipid syndrome(blood clotting disorder), lupus anticoagulant, hi blood pressure, hi cholesterol, and kidney problems. Whew so many!!!
I had my surgery Monday, July 18. Yeah!!! Truthfully i never imagined that as so as i came out of the anesthesia, i would truly be in the worst imaginable pain, worst than a C-section. That first day i was on constant pain meds but due to my blood clotting disorder i was still had to get up and walk the hallways. I survived it!! All my doctors were truly impressed with how uneventful my surgery and recovery was coming along. My husband and I walked so much during my hospital stay.

As each and every day passes the pain has become tolerable. It takes me at least 2 hrs to finish my protein shake and broth. The warm broth really soothes my stomach.  I have to be on my clear liquids for 3 weeks. I look at it as a way to help me lose more weight.
My family has been truly wonderful and my biggest supporters. As of today i have lost 12 .5 lbs and so excited to get below 200lbs, that is my first goal. O yeah and to get my blood sugars under control. My insulin has significantly been lowered and blood sugers are good. I want them perfect though.
So anyone considering to have weight loss surgery and is unsure because of medical conditions. I give you all my blessings to go ahead with the surgery. Just follow all the recommendations of your doctors and staff. You will do GREAT!!Find reputable doctors with a great staff and hospital facility. If you close to the LA area, you must go with the Cedars Sinai Weight Loss Center.

My Story

For most of my life, I have been up and down with my weight. I have gone through my skinny stages(and i thought i was so fat) and my fat stages. I have had diabetes since i was 6 yrs old and gone through the stage where i denied that i was diabetic(big mistake). Once i hit my 30's , every possible complication of diabetes hit me. I was SICK!!
On top of that i was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant and antiphosolipid sydrome(blood clotting disorder). Once i got all my medical condtions stabilized, the weight little by little kept adding up. I finally hit 222 lbs and i was so ashamed of myself. I was embarrsed to go places, see old friends, and became a homebody.
One day i was watching "The Biggest Loser", and one of the contestants mothers was diabetic, overweight and died of a stroke. The son found her and i thought "OMG, this is the road i'm heading towards if i don't get my diabetes and weight under control. I would never want to leave my two precious son's with that memory of me or to ever be a burden to them. So i begged my doctor to help me and he finally decided to refer me for the weight loss surgery.
I finally had my sleev gastrectomy and have no regrets yet. I'm so excited to get back to healthy, get rid of some of my meds, and feel good about myself.
I have an awesome family whom are my biggest supporters, my husband of 10 yrs but have been together for 18 yrs. We have two sons together a  17yr old and 9 yr old. They are both very smart(just like mom)..lol, athletic, and kind thoughtful boys. I am very, very fortunate to have both my parents, alive and healthy, and best of all married for 47 yrs already. God blessed me with a great family and i could actually say a GREAT LIFE!!
