Surgeon Testimonial

Mustafa A. Hares M.D., F.A.C.S.
The wonderful Dr. Hares did my revision surgery from a 1992 Adjustable Gastric Band to the DS in November of 2006. I had absolutely no complications and no pain at all, he highly recommended I take an epidural for pain management and I had no pain from the surgery, some discomfort but NO pain. It was an incredible experience. Dr. Hares is a wonderful surgeon in my opinion and his office staff, Jackie and Carol are simply great, very caring individuals. I spent some recovery time in a hotel in Michigan before coming back home to Indiana, it was between Thanksgiving and Christmas and Jackie even brought me a Christmas tree she'd made for my hotel room. My opinion of Dr. Hares got even better when I came back to Michigan to hear him speak at a support group meeting, it was a very informative meeting and I really enjoyed hearing him speak. Dr. Hares emphasizes how important aftercare is and this is thoroughly explained at the consultation with him and Jackie. If I had the whole experience to go thru again I would still choose Dr. Hares, he trained with Dr. Hess and still remains in touch with him. My whole experience was wonderful and my DS has changed my life and given me back my health!

Congratulations on taking this huge step in your journey and becoming an official member of the "fellowship of the switch." We hope that your surgery and recovery are swift, smooth, and uneventful. It is an interesting experience and certainly not "the easy way out" of being unhealthy and obese but each day will get a little better and be further proof that you dared to dream and had the courage to act. Good luck and God bless!

2 months out from my DS...
on February 2, 2007 12:59 pm
Had my surgery November 29th so I'm only 2 months out from my DS and doing fine, down 40 pounds so far. Doing very well and no problems so far. So glad I had the surgery, only wish I had done this years ago. Very happy so far with how I feel and my loss so far.
