Had the RNY in August of 2007.  Haven't had a single complication.  Haven't dumped.  Can eat just about anything I want, but I never eat sugar or fast food and I avoid carbs as much as possible.  So far, I've lost 92 pounds in seven months.  Only 23 more pounds and I'll be at goal.  Best thing I ever did in my entire life.

Long Time No Update
on May 18, 2008 10:25 am

I keep forgetting to come here and update.

I'm down to 176.  Just two more pounds to my hundred pound loss.  It's coming...it might take another month, but it's coming.

Weight loss has slowed to a snail's pace.  But it's good.  I feel fantastic.  I look better than I have in twenty years.  I'm happy.

So far, so good.

Big Fat Plateau
on March 15, 2008 8:27 am
I'm stuck at 182.  Can't seem to budge past it.  It's been about three weeks and nothing is happening.  I think it's time to start counting calories and getting some exercise into my routine.  I knew this day would come, but I kept thinking it would be later than this.  I need to get to 174 to hit my 100 pound loss and dammit, I'm going to do it if it kills me.  That's all I want...is to be able to say that I lost 100 pounds.  Then I'll be satisfied.

Weighing In

Hit 182 yesterday.  Three more pounds to the 170's.  The last time I was in the 170's I was seventeen or eighteen years old.

Had my six month check up.  Everything is super.  I'm way past the goal that they set for me and all is well.  Have to get my blood work done this week just to see where I'm at with that stuff.

A friend of mine is having her surgery with Dr. M tomorrow.  I can't wait to watch her shrink!

I'm down to 186!!!!  Only two more pounds until a 90 pound loss.

I am at the point where I get hungry once in awhile, so I do have to be careful about giving in to cravings.  I'm sticking to my diet like a champ.  Every single day someone tells me how amazing I look.  Every day someone asks me how much weight I've lost.  It's just so inspiring and motivating.

I got new shirts this week...all 14/16's.  Still in a size 16 bottom, but only because of my belly.  My legs and butt could easily fit into a 14 or a 12, but my belly is still a 16.  Also got new bras....38C's!!!  I haven't been in a bra in the 30's since I was a teenager.  And normal size underwear too!  No more plus sizes at all.  It's incredible.

New pictures soon, I promise.

Five Months Out
on January 7, 2008 4:55 pm
It's been five months since my RNY.

As of today, I've lost 83 pounds and currently am tipping the scale at 191.

I feel like a new person.

This surgery did exactly what I wanted it to do...and I'm doing the rest.

Life is wonderful and I'm happier than I ever knew I could be.

Yay for taking chances!

My Story

The first time anyone told me I was fat was when I was 9 years old and in 4th grade. My teacher told me I was too fat and should go on a diet. I don't remember a single name of any teacher I had before high school...except for her. Mrs. Novak. I'll never forget.

I haven't weighed less than 150lbs since sixth grade/age 12. The minute puberty hit, the pounds just started packing on. When I was 19 I joined WW for the first time and lost about 28lbs..getting down to about 170. I maintained that weight for only a few months before creeping back up to 190's.

When I got married at 22 I was hovering around 200, but it was spread out and I was young and my skin was nice and firm...so I was a size 18 and felt pretty good.

Weighed 212 when I got pregnant with my first child. Tipped out at almost 270 by the time I gave birth. Lost less than 30lbs with delivery and never lost another pound.

Second baby left me around 250/260. She's ten years old now and I'm 269 most days. I've been between 260 and 270 for the last ten years. Done WW, TOPS, and Jenny Craig. Never able to lose more then 20/30lbs and never able to keep it off for more than a few months.

Emotionally I feel defeated and hopeless. Physically I feel bloated, over stuffed, achey, winded, sore, tired, and way too old. I'm only 37! I shouldn't feel this bad.

I have mild apnea, high cholesterol, IBS, and a long history of depression. Otherwise, I am healthy. My GP says I'm an ideal candidate for WLS and she's encouraged me to look in to it.

Despite all my worries, fears, and self-doubt, I think this is what I need to do and I believe I'll be better off for it. Time will tell.
