Surgeon Testimonial

Mark A. Shina M.D.
I met Dr. Shina the first time at a weight loss seminar put on by him. He was very straight forward and spent a lot of time explaining the surgery, the complications, especially the possibility of blood clots.
He explained everything in detail and was VERY patient with questions from all of the attendees. I liked him from the very first and knew he would be a top surgeon and my surgeon! My impression has not changed and I am three months out. His office staff is first rate. They are very friendly and professional. The staff helped keep me on track for my insurance approval. I have been fortunate that I haven't needed to call for any questions but, I know they would be very happy to help in any way.
Dr Shina believes very much in aftercare programs. The hospital he uses is Norton Suburban and they have a wonderful support program with top notch professionals. One of the things you might not see at first is Dr Shina's sense of humor. He is a professional first but he does have a great sense of humor. Also, he will NEVER rush you. He will stay and answer all of the questions you have.
If you live in the Southern Indiana or Louisville, KY area please check out Dr Shina---You won't be sorry!

Today Was a Bummer!
on November 26, 2007 6:38 pm
My surgery was cancelled!  I waited all day in the surgery prep room with IV's flowing ,had already seen the anesthesiologist and after 4 hours my surgeon comes in and tells me he can't do my surgery because his surgical assistant became ill and he couldn't operate without one.  I first thought he was kidding--but he was as serious as he could be. I was and am still in shock! The nurse unhooked my IV and I got dressed and left.  I  think I am still in shock.  After 2 days of liquids and an ALL night of Bowel Prep and what happens--Nothing!  I was so ready and now I have to get psyched all over again.  Dr Shina really felt bad but I know he couldn't to the surgery without the assistant.  He said he will do everything possible to get me scheduled ASAP.
