Surgeon TestimonialJames Foote, M.D.I first met Dr. Foote the night of the orientation. My first impression of him was that he is a very kind caring Dr. with a sense of humor. I like that in a Dr. as opposed to someone that is so sour and serious. So that really impressed me, and helped ease some of the nerves of checking into this surgery. I also found out that he is a Christian...which means alot to me. :o) My husband and I met with him for my counseltation, we were both very happy and comfortable with him. He went above and beyond to make sure he explained everything to us. He never made our visit with him feel rushed, and took the time with us. He also made sure he answered all of our questions, and explained some of the pre/post op things that will be going on. I really liked his nurse, she was very nice. The office ladies were nice too. They all made you feel very comfortable, and didn't look at you as being overweight. Just an all around comfortable feeling.

~ My appt went great yesterday. YEAH I was able to get my tubes out, which I was sooo happy for that. Here I was so scared of having them removed, and I didnt even know when he was doing the left one. Again, I got all worked up for nothing. I feel like a free woman with those things not hanging out of me. My shower was great this morning. Altho I do have "holes" where the tubes came out that he said would close up and heal fine. I do keep them covered, as to me it looks so grose. haha
WOW I love the way I look now, even Dr. Foote was impressed with his work. He just looked at it and kept smiling telling me how nice it looked. He did an awesome job on me again. I still have to wear the garment for another 4 - 6 weeks to help hold things in. That is ok, as I feel so much comfortable with that on, along with the protection I feel it gives me. I go back to see him in 2 months for another check up on things. He said I should be fine from here on out, but said I do have a 50% chance of fluid building up under my skin, and if that happens I need to go back and see him, and he will drain it with a needle. Sounds yucky to me, so I hope I dont have that happen.
I feel better each day, and love to stand in front of the mirror to see the new me. It amazes me to see what a difference 1 year has brought to my life. I love it!!
Until later....

Well my surgery went very well on the 19th, I had my hernia repaired and my tummy tuck, then he come across a couple of other things to tend to while in there, which put my surgery 4 hours instead of the 2 - 3 that he had though. I was ok getting prepped for surgery, which I was thankful for, because I had cried days on end prior to surgery. So far I am feeling ok, altho I hate the 2 tubes I have in me. What a pain they can be, especially when I shower. They just hang there. lol I go back to see my Dr. on Oct 8th, will post more then. Hope and pray my tubes come out then.

~ Well here I am 13 months post op. I weighed in at 147 this morning, with a total loss of 122 lbs. WOW.....that is more than what my oldest son weighs. I sure feel much better, and live life to the fullest each and every day. I love life!! I have 12 lbs to go to my "goal" but am thinking I want to go alittle farther down....maybe 15-20 more lbs. Only time will tell tho. If/when i lose my 12 lbs. I will have lost 1/2 of what I used to be. WoooHoooo
My hernia repair and tummy tuck are the day after tomorrow....the 19th. I am starting to get a bit nervous, but am sooo ready for it. I look at my stomach, and extra hanging skin, especially when I lean over. I HATE IT!! So keeps me looking posative and forward with my surgery Wednesday.
I got a call from the Hospital, I have to be there at 6:oo am, and surgery is set for 8:30 am. WOW it is real again, im starting to get a bit nervous, but am sure I will be fine. I cant wait to finalize my steps into the new me. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

Yesterday I had an appt. with Dr. Foote to discuss my hernia he found during my surgery. It was great pleasure to finally see him again, as I havent seen him since my 2 week post op appt. He was completely amazed at how I looked, which made me feel very good. I took 2 pre op and 2 1yr. post op pictures with me, to show him the change he helped me make in my new life. He was in awe as I am, and asked if he could please keep all the pictures, so that he could use them at meetings and orientations. I agreed, and hope to be an inspiration to many others out there.
We had a nice long visit, and discussed many things. He wanted to know what I thought about the "very little" bit of skin I have on my tummy. I told him I "hated" it and he thought it was "cute". haha Anyway, he said while in doing my hernia repair he would do a tummy tuck on me. I am soooo excited and happy to know that the little bit of saggy skin I have will be gone. YEAH!!
MMPC called alittle bit ago, and I am all scheduled for my hernia repair/tummy tuck on Wednesday Sept. 19, 2007 first one of the day. WoooHoooo I am soooo excited, I cant wait. Not sure what it will be like, so hope to talk to a few people that have had it done, so I can kinda get an idea what to expect from it.
Off to do digging,

I had my 1 year post op appt. today, and it went great. Amazing at how fast the time really flew. It has been one wonderful year for me with all the changes. I would still like to lose another 20 lbs, sure hope I can.
My labs all came back perfect which was great to hear. Met with the Dietician, the Behaviorist and a Physician Assistant. They were all wonderful and very informative.
I have an appt. to go back on Sept. 6th to see Dr. Foote for my hernia. I cant wait, I plan on giving him a big hug, and getting a picture with him. I cant thank him enough for helping me get my life back.

Well here I am, 1 year post op, and loving my new life. I weighed in at 151 lbs. with a total loss of 118 lbs, and a total of 107 inches off my body. WOW oh WOW, almost hard to believe what this past year has done for me. I now enjoy and love life to the fullest.
I took pictures, and will be posting them side by side of my pre/1yr post op. I think I am still in awh when I look at them like that, as I look like a completely different person.
My love life with my husband is totally awesome now, something I havent had in years, and he sure is enjoying it too. I am a whole new different mom now to my sons, which they enjoy so much more. I go out in public not being ashamed of the way I look, and not feeling imbarrassed for my husband or sons. I get looks like I havent gotten in years, which feels nice.
I have some saggy skin on my tummy, but that is about it. I am so pleased with the way I look, altho I could have a few small "touch ups", in some places, but wont complain.
I still do great at eating what I am suppose to. Eggs and Pasta still seem to get alittle stuck, so if/when I do eat them, it is very little.
Weightloss has slowed way down, which I was hoping it wouldnt do. I still would love to lose somewhere between 16-25 lbs, and will probably struggle to do that. When they tell you to take full advantage right after surgery to exercise, you better do it. hehe Something I wish I would of pushed myself harder to do.
Thank you all for taking the time to read my profile and updates. I hope you enjoy it, and wish you the best of luck on your journey.
Until Later....

WOW I am getting terrible at updating my profile....sorry. I am 11 months post op and weighed in at 155 lbs. with a total loss of 114 lbs. I feel great, and can actually enjoy summer and shorts now. My dear sweet husband is always buying me something new and sexy, I love it and so does he.
I can eat just about anything now, which isn't bad, but isn't good either. My portions are very small still, as I am in great fear of stretching out my pouch at all. I am terrible about getting in my water daily, I really need to work on that harder. I would much rather drink lemonade or flavored water, both with no calories in them.
I had my first subway sub last week, and it was soooo good. I still couldn't eat a full 6 inch one, which is fine with me. But it still tasted so good.
I had a family reunion on my moms side last sunday. I haven't seen any of them since last year at this time. Some didn't even recognize me, which felt nice, and all couldn't believe how great I looked. My one uncle told me I looked so good, and wanted to know if I was now a super model. UGH....don't I wish....haha I thought that was sweet of him to say.
I wish you all reading this the best of luck on your decision with this surgery. It is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.

My time to brag about my big WOW moment. OMG... I got on the scales this morning and weighed in at 168 lbs. WOW was I shocked to see that, as that is a loss of 101 lbs. It feels so great to have lost that much, as a year ago, I would of never thought I would look like this, at this time this year. The best!!
I think it is about time for me to put all my pre-op and then my monthly post-op photos together into a "special" album. I have never done the creative memories albums, but I think this is what I will try to do. I need something to look at, with pictures that others don't need to see. lol I am looking forward to "trying" this, and then seeing the end results of it.
I think now I can contact someone at OH so that I can get my Century Club card. WOW have I waited to get that card, for which seems like forever. In time, I can't wait to post my pre-op/post-op picture for others to see.
Until later...

OMG today I got on the scale, (which I am down to weighing myself about 2 -3 times a week) and I weighed in at 171 lbs., that is only 2 lbs from loosing 100 lbs. since the start of this journey for me. WoooHoooo....I am sooo happy to have lost this much weight thus far, and hope for another loss of 36 lbs. Sure hope I can do it, it should be much easier with spring/summer here.
WOW clothes are so much fun now, I can wear what I want, and feel so good and confident about it. Jeans and shorts are size 12, and hey I did buy a pair of 10 shorts, and they fit. Talk about a shocker, I haven't seen that size in many years. It felt great to buy them. My shirts are a M-L. My dear hubby has so much fun buying me clothes, (and underclothes) he is always coming home with something new for me, and believe it or not, he does have great taste. lol
I wish all reading this, the great success that I have had with this surgery, and lots of fun WOW moments. They are the best.

Today I am 8 months post op. I weighed in at 174 with a total loss of 95 lbs. WooHoo!! When taking my monthly pictures, I also do measurements. WOW...as of today, I am down a total of 92.25 inches less in body fat. Does it ever feel great to be smaller all around.
I am now wearing a very loose 14, in jeans, and fit comfortable in a size 12. WOW that is down from size 24 that I started this journey on. My shirts are anything from a Med. to a Large. I haven't been in these sizes in years, and love it. It is so much fun to get dressed in the morning, it seems to be no matter what I put on, I feel comfortable and can wear in confidence. I LOVE IT!

ARGH.... My weight loss has slowed way down, which stinks. Today I weighed in at 175 lbs. -94 lbs loss so far. It is great, but I would still love to lose another 40 lbs. I haven't been exercising the way I should be, I am doing great with my protein, but haven't been getting in all my liquids. I am sure all this isn't helping me at all. My own fault.
Well my dear husband took me shopping again the other day. He seems to really enjoy doing that lately, and spoils me rotten with all kinds of new clothes. While out, he had me try on a 2 piece bathing suite, and it fit great!! I was like OMG.....WOW!! I haven't been in one of those in years. I am hoping that when summer actuallyl arrives and I can wear it, it will fit even better. I can't wait!! Even with my weighloss at a slow down, I love the new me, and loosing the weight I have lost. It is a whole new life for me.
The other day I finally went through my closet and ended up giving away all my old "fat" clothes, which felt great to be able to do. I had fun and some great laughs as I did try on alot of them. I never want to return to that size... NEVER!! I did keep a couple of things, so I could always "look back" and "compare" my old and new me clothes.

~ OMG you will not believe what my dear hubby did for me last night. I have been saying all along that when I hit my 100 lb. loss that I would get my belly button pierced. Well he surprised me and made the appt. and took me down and I got it done. I LOVE IT! It looks so cute on my "new tanned" thinner body. I am close to my 100 lb. loss, I am at 93 lbs. loss. I can't believe I did it, it is something I have wanted for a long time, but just never had the body to go with it. I do still have 41 lbs. to loose....sure hope I can make it.

~ Well here I am, 7 months post op today and loving it!! I am still standing at 180, with a loss of 89 lbs so far, size 14 jeans and L/XL tops. WOW what a huge change I have made in the past 8 months.
I will be taking new pictures of me later today, and will also do my measurements. I can't wait to see how many inches I have lost thus far, as I know it is alot. It finally feels great to wear normal fitting clothes instead of skin tight ones that cut off my circulation.
My husband and boys got me some very nice clothes for my birthday, along with a Tanning Package. Let me tell you.... I have been loving going down to tan. I shut the door to my tanning room, turn up the radio, lotion up, then tan. WOW what great relaxing therapy this is, I am really enjoying this special "ME" time. I am finally starting to feel great and "special" if you know what I mean. I love the way I look and feel these days, it is the best!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME....
Today I turned 41, and weighed in at 180 lbs. YEAH....I was so happy to see that since I have been at another long stall. If I can reach my goal, that gives me 45 lbs. left to loose. I hope it can be done. I am getting in about 800 calories per day. I did talk to my dietitian Carrie about that, as she wants me to be eating around 1200 calories per day. She thinks I am in "Fear" of overeating and stretching my new baby pouch. WOW she hit that nail on the head, as that is exactly what I am in fear of. I NEVER wan to return to the old me....NEVER EVER!! So I take it one day at a time, and do the best that I feel comfortable with.
Mom is cooking me BBQ spareribs for supper tonight, I can't wait. Just hope that I can eat them, as they are greasy and I haven't had them since surgery. BUT they are my favorite and she cooks them every year for me. :o)

Well for it being March 1st, it definately came in like a lion...lets hope and pray it goes out like a lamb. So far today we have had snow, rain, sleet, freezing rain, thunderstorms and lightening and it is only 9:45 A.M. Today I am 6 months post op. OMG....I put my pre-op picture and my 6 month picture side by side, and I just can't believe the difference I have made in myself these past 6 months. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the "NEW" me, it is so fun. I will try to post them in my picture section.
I am down a total of 82 lbs. and a loss of 70.25 inches off my body. WOW....that is almost 6 feet. No wonder I feel great!! I still have 52 lbs. to go until I hit my goal. I sure hope it is possible, and can happen before summer time.
The other day Steve gave me two 40lb bags to hang on to, just to show what I have lifted off my body. WOW....my knees and ankles felt crushed.
Off to try to post new updated pictures of me.

OMG....I had a WOW moment last night. I was cleaning up from supper, while my husband went back to play plalystation with our youngest son. I was busy, and not paying too much attention as to what they were doing. After a few, they both came out and got me, and took me back to the bathroom where they had drawn me up a nice warm bubble bath with bath salts in it. WOW it smelt so nice. They even had candles lit....I was soooo surprised!! I soaked in a nice warm bubble bath and enjoyed every minute of it. But my WOW moment was when I got in the tub, and actually fit!!! I have not taken a bath since before I had surgery. Before surgery I could fit in the tub, just not very comfy. I was side to side in there, and last night, there was plenty of room on each side. It was just amazing to see and feel. 81 lbs loss so far, really does make a huge difference when it comes to small things like that.

~ I finally made it to 189...which is a total loss of 80 lbs. WoooHooooo I am so happy to be in the 180's and to have lost that much weight so far. I feel great!!
I had a wonderful WOW moment the other day while my husband and I were out. We were in the store he used to be the Grocery Manager in, and ran into one of his old sales reps. I had never met him before, so he didn't know what I looked like prior to this surgery. Anway, when my husband introduced us, for once I felt sooo happy and proud of who I am and what I look like. Prior to this surgery I would of wanted to duck and run, so I didn't have to, what I felt like...embarrass my husband for the way I look. It just felt great, and I know my husband was proud to introduce the "new" me to him. It was just an all around great feeling. I just love to have those, they are the best.
On Feb. 22nd, I go in for my 6 month post op appts. I can wait, as I want so bad to loose alittle more by then. Sure is hard to believe it has been this long already. Summer will be great for me this year, I can't wait.

I love my loose fitting clothes, can't wait until I can get down alittle bit more so I can go shopping for new smaller clothes. Sure won't miss shopping in the "Plus Size" department.

I am 5 months post op today and love it. I weighed in at 197 today, which is a total loss of 72 lbs. in 5 months. I have lost a total of 59.75 inches of body fat too....WoooHoooo I love that.
My weight seems to be coming off slower and slower, which I hate. I exercise daily, in hopes in time it will catch up with me. Eating is good, I can eat alot of the things I used to eat, of course within reason. I am still not able to eat Pasta or Bread, which don't bother me, as I was never big on either of those.
I belong to Fitday.com and love that site. It is a great place to track everything in a days time. I did pay the $20.00 and it was well worth it. I stay between 800 - 900 calories daily, my fat intake is no more than 30 grams a day. Protein is always right on track, usually between 55 - 75 grams of protein per day. I love that site....it helps me alot.
I am loving the surgery, I can't wait until summer when I can finally wear some nice shorts. Right now I am down from a 24 jeans into a 16. Shirts went from a 3x and am now into a XL. I love not being in the plus sizes any more. If feels great.

I FINALLY made it to ONEderland, first time in years I have seen that on my scales....YEAH!! WoooooHooooo.....I am sooo happy!! I am still at a very slow loss of weight, but it was super to see the scale go down. I am past my 1/2 way mark of weight loss, which makes me feel great. I have lost 70 lbs, and have 64 lbs to go. This is the greatest thing I have ever done, I feel so much better. I can move freely and am in much less pain. I can wear clothes I haven't dared to wear in years. Such a happy fun new life.

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all....Hope your day is as special as each one of you. I didn't make my goal of being into ONEderland by today, but pretty close. I am at 201, so maybe by New Years!!
I was happy to see that my husbands family noticed my weightloss last night. So far, they have no idea that I had this surgery, but told me how great I was looking. That made my night, it was great!! So far I am down a total of 68 lbs. and loving it. I think I am at another "stall" which I absolutely hate to hit. I didn't think we would hit stalls so early out, I figured they would be much farther out from surgery, but not for me. I am one of the "slower losers", which make it so hard. I just keep plugging away at it, and jump for joy when the scales do move again.
Happy Birthday Jesus...
God Bless to all, with a very Merry Christmas...

~ December 16th, 2006 ~
I am 4 months post op today. I weighed in at 203...so darn close to onederland, I can't wait. I am working extra hard to get under 200 by Christmas...sure hope I can do it, but only time will tell. So as of today I am down a total of 66 lbs. and a whopping loss of -55 inches off my body. WoooHoooo :o)
I have been feeling great, so much better than weighing 269. I look back and wonder how I got there, and how I even had a life being that size. It was completely miserable. I love what I am dong with my life, for myself. I have enjoyed each and ever compliment I have gotten.
I wish everyone reading this a very Merry Christmas with a Happy healthy and safe 2007! God Bless You All

Well here it is already December, where does the time fly? Today I weighed in at 208, which was great to see. My goal is still to be under 200 lbs. before Christmas...lets hope and pray it can happen. I hit these stalls, and never know when I will begin to loose again. Makes it hard and frustrating at times, but this is the way my body is beginning to work at weightloss. So far I have lost a total of 61 lbs. which is awesome to see and feel. I think I will go back and update my "can't wait" and "won't miss" list, as I am sure many things have changed since I have lost this weight.
Snow has finally arrived here the past few days. It sure is fresh and pretty to see, but WOW is it ever cold out. With the wind chills lately, it has only been down into the single digits...usually around 8. The boys have been out to play a few times, but with it being that cold, the fun just isn't there no matter how much we bundle them up.
Heres hoping you all have a Wonderful Blessed Christmas Season!!
Until Later...

For this time of year, it should of been cold and snowy, but it was well into the 50's The kids loved it, they all played outside. I haven't seen much of our family since I had surgery, and actually none of them knew I had the surgery, and still don't. I got many compliments on my weight loss, which was awesome. I am sure they are all wondering now.
Yesterday, Nov. 29th, I finally hit my -60 lb mark. WOW....does that ever feel great, now my next goal is to be under 200 lbs. by Christmas, which is about 3 1/2 weeks away. Not sure if it can be done, but I will be pushing extra hard to see if it can. I feel wonderful!! Again....you hear me say....this is the best thing I have ever done for myself. :o)
My clothes are getting pretty baggy, which is great, as it beats them being so tight. Steve bought me two new shirts the other day, he is tired of seeing them so big and baggy on me. haha And he even bought an XL and they fit perfect. I haven't been in that size in years. Can't wait to really shop in the reg. size clothes section, it will be so much fun.
Until later...

Well here I am 3 months post op today and am loving this surgery and the new tool they gave me to work with. My pouch is pretty good, it seems to be a happy one. Well, I started this new journey in life weighing in at 269 lbs. WOW!! The day I had surgery, August 16th, 2006 my weight at the hospital was 257. I now weigh 214 So since then....in 3 months, I have lost 43 lbs. (55 lbs. total) WoooHoooo....now you see why I love this new life? There is no other time in my life I could of ever lost this amount of weight in such a short period of time. I FEEL GREAT!! And....I am starting to look great. My self esteem is great, it is so nice to have those wonderful WOW moments. They are the best!!
I pretty much eat what I want, even if it is only a bite or two. I do great!! As of today I have still not had sugar, and don't miss it at all. I do sip on a small glass of flat pop now and then, but that is it. This is wonderful, and I love each day with it.
Yesterday we went and had family pictures taken, the first time in a few years. For once I didn't mind getting that done, and can't wait to get them back. Bar far, the best thing I have ever done for myself, was to have this surgery. Sure wish I would of done it sooner. OH....37 days til Christmas. :o) I LOVE this time of year, it is the best.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING

Yesterday I was 12 weeks post op, and the scales finally moved down. WooooHoooooo....YEAH....I am sooooo happy. I am under 220 for the first time in years. I am now down to 218. WOW....that feels great to see. I guess the dietitian was right on my calorie intake. I am just in fear of gaining an ounce....I never want to be this size again. On Nov. 20th I go for my 3 month appts. and hope/pray to be down at least 5 more lbs. I would love to be under 200 and into ONE-derland by Christmas. It might be possible.
Yesterday it was so nice out here, that we spent alot of the day putting up outside Christmas Lights. It was nice, we had alot of fun. Sure is hard to believe it is that time of year already. I love and enjoy this time of year....such a loving cheery feeling in the air. The lights won't come on until Thanksgiving night, I can't wait. The day after Thanksgiving Steve and I go out and do the "early shopping" thing. It is so much fun, we love it. We usually get all of our shopping done in that one day. YEAH!!
Tuesday evening we took the boys to see "The Santa Claus 3". Of course, another great show with Tim Allen. The boys enjoyed it alot, as so did Steve and I. And hey....I even had some movie theater popcorn....mmmmm yummy. It settled very well which I was glad to see. That is probably the worst thing I have tried since my surgery. You just can't go to the movies without having some good popcorn.

Well I am almost 12 weeks post op and have been at a nice long stall at weightloss for way too long. I am stuck at 222 lbs. Sure gets frustrating, to say the least. I finally decided to e-mail my dietitian to discuss this with her to see if she had any suggestions on what I might be doing wrong. With what I had told her was going on, her response was that she didn't think I was getting in enough Calories....WHAT?? She then told me how many I should be getting in a day. So I did some logging....a good habit I got out of. Anyway I was way under the amount of calories per day she wanted to me have. So now I will work on that to see what happens from there. I will now continue to write down everything I eat, to make sure. Wish me luck that this helps get me out of this rut I have been in.
Until later,

Yeserday I was 10 weeks post op, and am down a total of 46 lbs. WoooHoooo I am feeling so much better, it is just great. I feel like I am finally gaining back some self confidence, which is something I never thought I would have again. I realized that I am now in control of food, and that food will never control my life again. I don't think there is anything (food) that I miss anymore, I just want to get my life back...and fast. I started out this process in a tighter 24 jeans, and at least a 2x shirt. I am now into a size 18 jeans...almost 16. I am so excited about that, I haven't been this size in years!! I LOVE IT!!
Steve and I made it over to the hospital to visit with my 2nd. Angelette, Jenn F. and her hubby, she had surgery yesterday. WOW....what a wonderful couple they are, we sure enjoyed our visit with them. They don't live far from us, so we hope to be able to get together with them again, just not at the hospital. Very very sweet kind caring people. Glad we met, hope our friendship can continue.
I am doing good at getting in my protein and water. Exercise is another story, that seems harder to get in daily, and with our weather changing, it isn't as easy to get outside and walk. I hope I can get better at that, as I am sure that would help boost up my weightloss. I haven't had any complains or problems, which has been nice. It almost seems to be going too smoothly for me, after having my 3 strictures. :o)

I had such a pleasure meeting Apple Pie yesterday. She is as beautiful in person as she is on her profile, a very very sweet kind caring lady. Her, I and our husbands went to visit Judy G. at the hospital as she had just had surgery. Judy is just as sweet in person also, and her husband Gary is a real hoot. He gave us many many great laughs....not too sure Judy will remember anything, as she was still alittle out of it. hehe It really is so nice to meet people in person that you meet on this OH site.
Kari, my Angelette is having surgery today, I even had the pleasure of talking to her this morning on the phone. Another very very sweet kind caring lady, sure wish we lived closer. Maybe someday I will convine her to "move" closer. :o) I am waiting to hear from her husband as to how she is doing. I can't wait!! She will do fine though.

Well here I am...2 months post-op today and am loving this surgery. I feel like I am melting away. YEAH So far my total weightloss is at 41 lbs. I was hoping for more, but I have hit a nice long stall....and just hate it. Here I sit and wait and wait for the scales to move. Hopefully soon they will. On another great note, I did my measurements, and so far in the past 2 months I have lost a total of 36.5 inches off my body. WOW...how great it is to feel that. I have went down 3 pant sizes and am just about ready to go down another size. I might not be loosing lbs, but am sure loosing the inches. All in all....I feel great and love this new "tool" I have to work with.

Well here I am, 8 weeks post op tomorrow, and am down a total of 41 lbs from the beginning of my weightloss journey. WoooHoooo this is actually so much fun watching the weight come off. I am starting to get more and more energy, along with feeling soooo much better. I can actually get around so much better, and I now find myself actually running up the basement stairs, instead of taking them one by one. It is so wonderful to notice things like that. My clothes are starting to get looser and looser. I have dropped down 3 pant sizes, and am almost ready to drop down another size. I could of never lost this much weight in such a short amount of time on any other program. I just want to scream the word out to everyone, that their is this option of surgery, as I am sure so many people just don't know about it.
Steve and I had a fantastic time out at Niagara Falls. If is the first time we have left the boys for that long of time, 4 days, and we all did great with it. I even got to know my hubby all over again, having that many days alone together, to just talk, enjoy each other, and walk hand in hand. The weather was perfect, it only rained at night. We visited both sides of the falls, New York and Ontario. What a beautiful place. New York has many "nature paths" which are so enjoying and peaceful. Ontario is more of a faster pace, and alot busier. We just had a great time....although the time flew by way to fast.

September 2006
~ Sept. 7, 2006 ~
Well here I am, and already 3 weeks post op and doing pretty good. I find it hard to get any food in, as I am never hungry, although I do alot of drinking. I had my first "dumping syndrome" on tuesday night, and I felt like I was going to die. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, it hurt so bad. My husband bought me home some GNC anywhey Protein powder, so thought I would get some right in, as I am having a hard time getting that in daily. So without thinking, I mixed it in some fat free milk, then added some Nesquick choc. to make some chocolate milk. WRONG thing to do!! It was less than an hour when things started going haywire. Finally I had my husband call my Dr. as at that time, I knew nothing of what it might be. I got a migrane, flushes, the worlds worst cramps and backache. When the physician assistant called me back, he wanted to know what I had done prior to feeling this way. I told him, so he had me check the sugar content in everything, which was way too much sugar. His advice, sip water and stay away from all sugars, as our bodies don't know what to do with them, so they just sit there. The water helps push it through our system. After all this, I think it was a good 5 hours at least before I started feeling better. WOW I will never do that again!! Live and Learn the hard way!!
So far I have lost 26 lbs, and am loving it. I do have stalls, where I will gain back a pound, don't know how that is, as I don't eat anything, then loose that plus another pound or so. It sure is nice to watch the scales go down though...been sometime since I have seen that. I haven't tried many foods, and when I do eat, it is very few bites at all. I try to get on my exercise bike once a day for about 1/2 hour. So far it has been an exciting experience for me, and wait for the scales to drop more lbs.
Until later...

~ Sept. 9, 2006 ~
WOW what a interesting past couple of days I have had. Thursday I ate a piece of ham lunchmeat, chewed chewed and chewed some more, only to have such unbearable pain while swallowing. I ended up throwing up a ton of flem then felt better. For supper I thought I would try some mashed potatoes and mushed up chicken...only to go through what I had done with the ham, earlier. I gave up and went to popsycles...they would go down with no problem or pain. Friday I called my Dr.s office and talk to his nurse. She then talked to my Dr. and called back saying he wanted me to go directly to the hospital to be admitted for testing and a ct scan. OH GREAT...I was not expecting that for an answer, but OK. She then called back about 10 minutes later and said that first my Dr. wanted me to have a scope done, and from there I would be directly admitted to the hospital. OK...that gave me alittle more time to prepair things around the house, the boys, and get my husband home from work. At 1:30 I had my scope done, the Dr. found that my opening was down to an 8 and it should be a 15, so he ballooned that back open, then as he went farther into my pouch, he found I had a good sized ulcer. :o( My new baby pouch is already sick. While I was still under, the Dr. went and talked to my husband, and said since he had found those two problems, I wouldn't have to be admitted into the hospital after all. YEAH...that made my day when I woke up! I am now on 3 different Ulcer medacines from 3 weeks to 2 months. I hope they heal my ulcer and make eating alittle easier on me. Not sure how/why my baby is sick already, but will be talking to my Dr. on the 28th of Sept to get some answers...hopefully. By then I will be 6 weeks post op. Other than that, I am doing pretty good. The weight isn't coming off like I had hoped, but then again, I have not been eating anything...not even my protein, so hopefully once I get things back on track, the weight will start coming off again.
Until Later...

Well here I am...4 weeks post-op today, and down 30 lbs. since my journey began. WooooHoooo I love that!! I have been doing much better since the Dr. found my ulcer in my new baby pouch, along with ballooning my opening back open. It is amazing how those two things made me feel prior to getting help with them. The 3 meds the Dr. has me on, are really helping. I can eat, and keep the food down now. Yesterday I received an e-mail from Carrie, my dietitian, she cleared me for pretty much anything I wanted to eat, of course in reason with no sugar. I was sooo happy to hear that, although I am still watching what I eat, as I don't want to damage my pouch. So far the things I have had to eat, have all agreed with my pouch. YEAH!! Last night I did try a soft taco bell taco with lettuce and cheese on it. It was pretty good, and took me about 40 minutes to eat it. I am sooo scared to eat anything as I don't want to gain an ounce...I love to see the scales go down. I have done great with the change in lifestyle on eating, which makes me very proud of myself. I have this set in my mind, and hope and pray to never go back to the weight I am now.
This weekend Steve, I and the boys are heading north for a few days. We can't wait, we are all so ready to get away for a few. This summer sure has been a crazy hectic one. Will post a few pictures when we return.
Yesterday Brennen had his checkup on his arm. The x-ray shows new bone growing where his arm was broke. That was great to see, as it is healing nice and straight. He has 3 more weeks left with his cast on. He is so ready to get that taken off, which I am too. It stinks!! haha
Until later...

5 weeks post-op today and down a total of 32 lbs. WoooHooo. I am still having problems getting things down and keeping them down, so back for another scope tomorrow. I can't figure out why I am having so many problems, I hope to get some answers after the scope. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, or eating wrong, but will know soon. I will post after that.

~ Sept. 22, 2006 ~
Well, had stricture #2 repaired yesterday. I was down to a 7 this time, so Dr. Foote opened it up to a 16 1/2. WOW what a difference that makes, and I can eat again. He did say I waited way to long this time to get into him, as my intestine wasn't contracting like it should be, which tells him that I hadn't ate or drank in quite some time. I hadn't, everything was making it's way back up. He also said because of the way I am healing, that he figured I would have 1 possily 2 more strictures before I was healed all the way. Thank goodness there isn't too much to getting them repaired, just the pain before hand. Of course, with having the stricture again, and not eating or drinking anything like I should of been, I haven't lost any weight. :o( Not good, but another live and learn experience for me.

~ Sept. 28th, 2006 ~
As of yesterday I am 6 weeks post-op, today was my Dr.s appts. and I am down a total of 33 lbs. and 21.75 inches of fat off my body. WoooHoooo I am finally starting to notice changes in my clothes and my face. I have been feeling pretty good, my energy has finally went through the roof, which has been great. I have been getting lots of things done around the house, that have been ignored for quite some time.
Today is mine and Steves 21st Wedding Anniversary. YEAH :o) What a great bunch of years we have had...I love him dearly!! WOW...where did those past years go, as time has really seemed to fly by! So far, this weekend we are heading out to Niagara Falls alone without the boys. Not sure how I will do with that, as I have never left them for that long of time, but they will enjoy time with grandpa and grandma, they get spoiled there. haha Will update when we get home.

August 2006 Surgery Month

My wonderful sons and I, and my sweet husband and I. 2 week pre-op.

~Aug. 3, 2006~
WOW it is amazing how things seem to change so fast. I actuallly thought this was a forever long process to surgery, but it seems to be once you get started and going, it actually goes along fast...thank goodness...waiting is enough to drive anyone nuts.
Yesterday I had my first set of Pre-op appts. and they went great. Carrie, the nutritionist at MMPC did the speaking on the first half. WOW she is sooo nice, and will be fun to work with throughout this long process. She did very well at explaining things, and then the answers to stand behind what she said. It all makes so much sense now. Nancy, spoke also. She did a great job too, with alot more information. Just when you think you know most about this surgery, someone comes in to let you know more. What a great bunch of people that work at MMPC. I have had such a great friendly experience through there, I would highly recommend them to anyone.
OK...so today was my first day of my pre-op food. If you can actually call some of this stuff food or juice. :o) I now see why you loose some weight being on this 2 weeks prior to surgery. haha I have to keep reminding myself that it will be well worth it when I can look back in a year, or even 6 months to see the positive changes I have made in my life. I am doing the countdown to surgery...12 days today, or 2 weeks from today I will be back home from surgery. WoooHooo....I can't wait. I am so ready for a new chance at life.
I would like to thank my dear husband Steve for all the wonderful help, support, love and encouragment you have given me through this process. I love you honey!! My sweet boys Travis & Brennen for always helping me, and understanding and believing in me. You two are the greatest...I love you both!! My wondererful parents for the great support you have shown me all along. You two are the greatest parents anyone could want. I love you both!!
Until later
Hugs and blessings to all...

My Wonderful hubby and I....I love him sooo much...he is the greatest!!

~Aug 10, 2006~
Hi there everyone, WOW it has been a week since I last updated. Time sure seems to fly by when you are so busy getting ready for surgery. Today I had my last pre-op appt. at MMPC, then had to have bloodwork done. I was sooo lucky to have Todd for my Phys. Assistant, WOW is he ever wonderful!! He told me that he will be assisting Dr. Foote with my surgery on Wednesday the 16th. I feel that I couldn't be in better hands than them two. I feel so blessed to have met both of them. My countdown begins...6 days til surgery day...WoooHooo...I will soon be a "loser". I have been on the pre-op diet for 8 days now and it is going pretty good. Not sure I will ever want this kind of food again though. OH...forgot to mention that I lost another 6lbs. which puts me at a total of 10 since I was first weighed in at MMPC. YEAH...first time I have ever lost weight without trying so darn hard. I am getting very excited to have this done. After my appts. at MMPC I went over to the hospital and visited a fellow OH member/buddy, as she had surgery yesterday. It was nice to see her, and I got to check out the floor I will be on, met the nurses...whom by the way are all wonderful and was all excited that I would be back next week. I feel I will be taken care of very well.
After mondays swallow study on my son, and then tuesdays appt. with a Pediatric Gastro Dr. he is guessing what my son is suffering from is Reflux. He will be doing a scope on Aug. 23 to check things down his throat, and to do some biopsys. He did put him on a pill to help ease some of the problems, which seems to be working. Tonight he finally ate something...3/4 hamburger...WOW was that ever great to see. Hopefully he is on his way up to getting better. Sure has been a long summer with him not feeling well.
Until later...
Hugs and Blessings to all...

~August 15, 2006~
Well here it is, the day before my surgery day. WOW...when I look back, I wonder where the time went, as it really seem to fly by...thank goodness!! Yesterday was kind of hard, I got my call from the hospital telling me what time my surgery was, and all the other "good" info. I have to be there at 11:15, surgery is at 1:45. I was hoping it would be earlier, but that is ok. Of course, when I hung up the phone from answering tons of questions, reality sunk in and I started to cry. I thought I wouldn't get nervous, but extremely excited, wrong... although I am excited, just alittle edgy and nervous, which is to be expected. I just can't believe that after this long journey, my time to be on the Losing side of weightloss is finally here. YEAH. It just don't seem possible. I can't thank everyone enough on this OH site for the wonderful words of encouragment, and all the advice you gave when I asked and needed it, you all helped me get through to where I am now. Without all of you, it would of been a tough journey alone. Thank You to my wonderful dear husband Steve for all his great support to get me where I am today...I love you honey...you are the greatest. Thanks to my sweet darling boys Travis & Brennen for understanding my every mood through this journey, you two are the greatest. I love you both. Thank you to my wonderful parents for helping me with the boys during all my pre-op appts. and all the wonderful words of encouragement you two have given me. I love you both! Last, I want to thank my wonderful favorite brother and his great wife and family for all the support and prayers you have given me, I love you all!! Without all of you, I surely wouldn't be where I am today...and still be sane!! Big Hugs to each of you....I love you all!! I will post again when I am on the losing side of weightloss. Wish me luck...
Until later....
Hugs and Blessing to all

WELCOME HOME...

AAWWWHHHH....Thanks Felicia...you are such a sweetheart! I am so happy to be home...

~Aug. 19, 2006~
Well here I am on the losing side of the weightloss surgery. YEAH...Surgery was on wednesday the 16th, and was scheduled for 1:45. I had to be at the hospital at 11:15 for all pre-ops. My wonderful husband and I sat around and waited until it was my turn, only to find out that Dr. Foote was running behind. OK...so we are thinking maybe 1/2 hour to an hour behind. Nope....it was 4 hours behind, what a long exhausting emotional day it was that day. We did alot of praying not only for me, but for the person ahead of me, that had to be in surgery extra long. We played a few games of Yahtzee and watched alot of TV. I had some tears, emotions...don't we just love them. Well at about 4:30 they took me down to prep me for surgery, and as I was being wheeled down there I seen Dr. Foote in the hallway. Of course, he was all smiles and started talking to me. He asked how I was doing and if I was ready. I broke down...again...and started crying. He assured me I would be OK, and that he was all warmed up for me, and that I was going to be one of his "STARS"...now that melted my heart. At 5:45 I finally got wheeled into surgery, a bit nervous, but doing better. Dr. Foote went out and talked to my husband alittle after 8:00 that night, to let him know everything went great, and that I was done. I finally got up to my room that night about 9:30 to finally see my dear husband, along with a beautiful plant and balloon he had gotten me. What a long exhausting day, glad it is behind me.
My husband stayed with me in the hospital, it was so nice. He was there to help me with my every need, whine, or whimper. haha He spoils me rotten. We walked the halls a couple of times in the night, then was kept awake most of the night by all the nurses poking and prodding at me. My IV did back up on me, so the nurse removed that, and tried to put it in a different spot. He tried 2 times, only to have no such luck. He decided to go out and call down to ER to see if there was an available nurse that would come up and try. It took her two times, but finally got it in a much better place. Otherwise...not much sleep there.
Thursday was a pretty good day. My liquids went down pretty good, which was great. I quit using my pain pump in the night, as that made me very nauseas. They put me on liquid pain meds, which worked great. Water went down fine, along with the carnation choc. drink. My dear Angel, Darlene Nelson came up to see me, and brought me up a beautiful Angel Journal, some Cherry Blossom hand/body lotion, and a vanilla pear candle. It was as if she had known me forever, they are all my favorite things. Thank You and God Bless you Darlene...you definately are my ANGEL!! After Darlene left, I decided to get into the shower, which my husband helped me with. WOW did that ever feel great, I felt like a brand new person after that. It was nice, I even put on my own jammies, took some more pain medacine, layed down for a bit, then around 6:00 I decided I wanted to make the trip home. It sure felt great to get home into my own bed, I slept great on my side...although I had pillows propped all around me. Just a good comfy cozy bed and great nights sleep.
Friday was a great day, I didn't do too much, just alot of resting. Steve worked that day, but the boys were home with me, which was nice. They tended to me at every move I made. What great boys they are. I got all of my protein down, which was great. I sipped away on my water all day. Now the gas pains are here...something I could of done without...they are being a pain. I hope this is something that passes fast. Otherwise, I have almost all my protein in for the day, with some water. It is hard...you just sip, sip, and sip some more. I just don't want to over do it. So far....my new pouch has been very well behaived. YEAH....I have yet to give it a nice name. I am so happy to be on the Loser Bench...now off to start my new slimmer more active happier life.
Until Later...
Hugs and Blessings to all...

~Aug. 19, 2006~
Today is saturday, 3 days post op and I am doing pretty darn good. I have been still resting alot though, I am thinking it is from my medacine, which I am trying to slack off of. I am not in that much pain, just a ton of noisy gurgling gas pains. Hope this passes soon. Steve took the boys out for a few so I could get some rest, wow was that nice. I took a little nap, and enjoyed my peace and quiet. They came home a couple of hours later, with some very pretty flowers for me. What sweethearts they are...I love them dearly!! I only need 1 more point of protein for the day, which will be my chicken noodle soup for supper. After that I will just have a snack of a SF popsycle, with lots of sips of water.

~Aug, 28. 2006~
WOW does time ever seem to fly by lately. I am almost 2 weeks post-op and loving it. I just love to see the scales go down instead of always going up. Things have been going great for me, I just keep sipping away on my water. Real food is starting to get to me though...it has been tough. I go back to my Dr. and dietitian this thursday, I can't wait...I will get to advance ahead to my next step in food. I am so excited...I can't wait!!
What a rough week I had last week. Wednesday my youngest son had his scope done. We found out that he has Acid Reflux pretty bad, and that his esophagus is inflamed and irretated. The Dr. had already put him on prevacid, which is helping him alot. He is getting better by the day. Thank GOD!! Thursday evening, long story short, he broke his arm in 2 places. Finally on friday we went to a Orthapedic Pediatric Surgeon, he put the cast on and set it. That hurt Brennen alot, but he made it through...sure beats surgery. He is doing pretty good with having a cast on, it is taking time getting used to though. That won't be coming off until sometime early Oct. Whew...that will be here before we know it.
Hugs & Blessings...

July 2006 Pre-Op

~July 1, 2006~
A little about myself...I have been overweight for about the past 15 years. I have tried many different weight loss attempts, including Weight Watchers. Only to re-gain back all my weight...plus many more pounds. As my husband and I think and look back, it seems to be that this has been a problem for me since I started to have Infertility problems.
On June 22nd. I went to the orientation for WLS. Dr. Foote did the talking and explaining there, which I thought was great. I was expecting anyone but one of the Dr.s to do the talking. He was great, made sure we all understood what he was talking about, and was open for any and all questions. He seems very kind, caring, happy and friendly. You can tell his patients mean alot to him. From then on, I knew he was the Dr. I want to do my WLS surgery.
This thursday, July 6th I have my first appt. with Dr. Foote and am looking very forward to it. I hope this is the beginning to a new life for me, as I am ready to go for it. I have done lots of checking and reading on WLS surgery, and just love to read about others success stories. I can't wait to be on that loosing side of weightloss.

The picture that made me want to change my life around and have this surgery. Thank you Lord for opening my eyes to see this.
