Surgeon Testimonial

Muhammad A. Jawad, M.D.
Dr J is very professional and very informative of what he is going to do. My attitude towards him never changed I liked him from the start. His staff is awesome specially Kevin and Kelli were great. I can't really say anything bad about any of his staff. Dr. J. is very to the point and an excellent surgeon. He has a class at the hospital and he requires follow up visits, and blood work. He wants to see you in his office every 6 months. He was very informative of the pros and cons of this surgery. I would say he is a 10 in every aspect. You might not see him much but he gets the job done that is why I am here.

7 months out
on November 16, 2008 1:27 pm
I  know it has been a while since I last posted. Well today I weighed and I have lost another 5 pounds. It feel's so great to be over half way to my goal. I just got back from a cruise and I can not believe the things I accomplished on this cruise.  I also can't believe that I actually was able to climb many flights of stairs without being out of breath. I feel so young and happy since this surgery I dont have any aches and pains like I use to. I can pretty much keep up or out do most of my friends now  and that is a great feeling to not be the one holding people back. I am so glad I did this. The only thing I am missing for some reason is soda I have been craving it for about a month now and I dont know why. I have not had any in over a year you would think I would be over this.

well today marks 5 months
on September 7, 2008 9:42 am
Well lets see it has been 3 months since I posted anything. I have lost 98lbs as of today , 6lbs of that is from before surgery. I am so exited that I am almost at the 100lb mark. I went to my 20 year reunion last month and  it was a blast and it felt so great that people I went to school with all said that I looked great and had not changed a bit. If they only knew that I had gained over a hundred pounds since graduation and now have lost it they would of been shocked. I did not say much to many of them about my surgery because in a couple years we are having another reunion and I want to go back  at my goal weight and surprise them all. That is when I will tell them all what I have done.

Well yesterday was Dr. Jawad's picnic and it was so great to see the accomplishments of other patients there. I told Dr J that he saved my life and I am so happy that he was my surgeon. I feel like a new person with all this weight gone. I tell anyone who will listen  how great this surgery is and that they should go see Dr. J if they are thinking of surgery.

I am now into size 20 pants and 18 20 shirts boy it feels great I can't remember the last time I wore any of these sizes it has been years. I am hoping to be in to 16 by Christmas  maybe sooner if things keep going. Well I hope everyone is doing well and I will post something new soon.

Well things are going a little slower now
on June 10, 2008 6:42 pm
I have kinda figured things out I think it seems when everyone gets to about 8 weeks or about 50lbs it seems we all start slowing down or stopping altogether.  I kinda got discouraged but then all of a sudden I lost 5lbs in a few days. It gave me a feeling of ok things are just doing what they should. I keep working out as much as I can and I make sure I drink plenty of fluids I have learned my lesson with that also if I am outside in the heat for a longtime I get kind sick to my stomach if I don't keep my self hydrated.  I am so glad I had this surgery it is the best thing I have done for myself I feel great and my clothes just keep getting bigger and bigger.  I am hoping to have at least another 15lbs gone by August 14 that is when I leave for my class reunion I am looking forward to it and letting everyone see me and how well I am doing. Well I am going to go for now anyone reading this just remember keep positive and keep up the great work.

Bye bye g tube yeah!
on May 16, 2008 8:17 pm
Well the g tube is gone and so is 50lbs yeah!  Life is good! I had some discomfort and pain when the g tube came out but that has subsided the drainage seems to be going away also. I still would not change a thing this is the best decision I have made. I have lost over 35 inches total in 6 weeks I sure can see the changes in my clothes.  I will post soon when I have new news.  As soon as the hubby gets home I will try to get some new pictures posted.

4 weeks out today
on May 5, 2008 8:16 am
Well I wont say it has been an easy ride but a ride well worth taking. I am down 45lbs today and I feel so great. I am already doing things that I only  had thoughts of doing a couple months ago. My clothes are getting so big and that is a great feeling it makes me want to run out and buy new. I wont be buying any for a little while because I have enough in smaller sizes to get me by for now. I have to keep reminding myself to drink plenty of fluids when I am out and about that seems the hardest thing so far. Eating out has not been to bad my husband and I usually split things and he has lost weight now to.

My Story

Well I am 38 and have dealt with  my weight from the time I was born. I was a 10 lb baby and it seems like I have gained almost 10 lbs a year every since then. I was always the kid  that the rest of the kids  made fun of and  all the adults thought was cute. I am happily married  and my husband says he loves me just like I am  but I don't love me just like I am. I decided about a year and half ago that I needed to do something about this weight because I was miserable. I had researched  wls and thought this is not for me. I kept trying diet after diet with no prevail. I then heard about the lap band and thought hey I can do this it will work for me. Well in August I went to  Dr, Jawads seminar and learned nope I was wrong I would never be able to do the lap band and be successful. I went home and cried I thought I would be heavy the rest of my life and it would probably be a short one at that. I spoke with my husband who said I really should have the gastric bypass done. I am scared to death about do this because I have known people that had complications from it but decided I would check to see if my insurance would cover it. Well they wouldn't I thought for sure I was doomed. I started asking around where I work and was told that the insurance through work would cover it. Well now it is October and I have to wait till the open enrollment which is only a few weeks away. I enrolled and my insurance kicked in January 1st 2008. I went to see Dr. Jawad on the 8th the day after my 38th birthday. So here  we are............................................
