2 weeks today.... on November 6, 2008 6:23 pm
I am down 30lbs. Nothing lost preop. I still hurt on my left side. They had to make the incision a little bit bigger than what they are use too.
I haven't had issues with foods. Everything seems to be going down ok, vitamins/medications are met everyday.
Do I feel like I have lost? Nope. Do I look like I have lost? I say I haven't, nurse said she could tell a little bit. No regrets yet.

October 23, 8 am. Count down officially starts today. Oct. 7 I visit for my pre-op and all that fun stuff. EKG, Blood work, Xray. Rick won't be here, HOPEFULLY he will be home the weekend I have surgery. Just depends on his command. Did I mention how much I LOVE the military??? If he doesn't come home that weekend I am ok with it. He would be home a couple of days after tho. Then it will be time for his send off.
I can tell it bothers him that he can't be here. Like he and I say, it is what it is. He and I both like the Dr. So he can rest easy. If anything should happen he can be there in a couple of hours. Tops....
SO 23 days, 7hrs and counting.....

Well, lets see. Alot has been going on these past few months. I disappeared off of here because of all the negativity going on in the forums. I started my new business venture, getting ready for my DH deployment. Dropped the BC/BS insurance. Got Tricare paperwork was submitted to them this past monday, YESTERDAY I get a phone call from the nurse and she says....YOU ARE APPROVED!!!...I started to cry. I told her how much it was appreciated and asked her why it was approved so easily. She was like, "honey your records, WOW is all I can say. you should of had this ALONG time ago. The Dr. and I who went through them decied right on the spot. Why do you ask?" I told her all the crap I went through with BC/BS. Now surgery is slotted for Oct. 22. =) Dr. Ver Steeg is moving to a new facility and I will be having it done in Mason.

Yep, my insurance denied me. WHY? Because I suppossedly didn't have treatment for my co-morbilities and that I hadn't been under a doc. supervised diet. HMM. I went and did some investigating and found my dietician referral letter from two years ago and right on that a darn little papers it perfectlys stated WHY iwas going and WHY I needed to be on it and that it WOULD be monitored at my doc's office. SO, I went back to Dr Mock office told her what happened and she is doing the appeal for me, NOT Dr. Ver Steeg how we originally thought. I talked to his office about it and they basically said, NOPE, you are on your own for your appeal. Come to find out at the insurance company, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Iowa, the doc and nurse didn't even REALLY read my files. I talked to a case manager from there and she even seen that referral letter. Hmm. Makes a person wander don't it? the appeal was sent in the first week of Feb. Still haven't heard a reply. Have a feeling it is still be NOPE. I am at a lost and very disappointed.

 Today I had a very nice phone call from Dr. Ver Steeg's office. They called to make my first appt. It is for Dec 11. Asked them some questions told me what I needed etc. Rick will be gone, again, for school for work. This time it will be from Sunday night to Thursday night. He will miss it like I say. Oh well. There will be more appts.
I am sure. Had my checkup with bloodpressure and weight with my PCP this past Tues. along with Deryck's 2yr check up also. WOW he has grown so fast, now we are heading to the ripe ol age of 3. Time flies when you are having fun!!LOL
ANYWAY, back to me, weight has leveled off finally, doc was very surprised as to how much I had gained. Sad part is, don't know why. Thyroid levels were fine, to me they were borderline, just because they were within normal range dont mean nothing. What can ya do? BP was outrageous, didn't want to tell her that I hadn't taken it for like a week because of Turky day. I can't take my medications cuz it makes me tired and exhausted. So she upped two pills and added one for my neck. I love my doctor. I can't change my meds because I can still have babies. Don't want to take a chance on me taking them and getting prego. No we don't use BC cuz we just can't.
Right now we are under the dreaded "iowa winter storm watch" yay I'm excited NOT!!LOL...Earlier it was snowing that light pretty snow that you see in the movies etc. and they make commercials from. I'd like them to make a commercial from Iowa during one of our "famous snows" LOL. The wind, ice, wind, ice two inches of snow that drifts to ten feet high. LOL Snowed in for days on end. Rick is suppose to be home tomorrow night from school. Hopefully they don't get delayed anywhere for this storm, he is suppose to be in Minneapolis by 430pm and back to his friends house by 7. I pray the roads will be good. Fingers crossed!!He is in Phoenix so I had to listen to how it was 70-80 all week and the swimming. Im like shut up!!YOU SUCK!!LOL. The next school is in Milwaukee..lol The kids and I can't wait for him to come home, hugs and kisses all the way around!
To top it off he called me tonight and he was drunk! Few to many with his buddy, which is ok. He is very silly when he is. He says "how could you tell I had been drinking?" I replied, "I am your wife and I know you!Dead give away was when you started talking for five minutes before you took a breath!" LOL.

My Story My name is Tawnya, I live in north central iowa. I am married and have three kids. They are 7, 2, and 14mos. I am currently a SAHM, DH works at the Harley Davidson in one of the towns close by and he is also in the National Guard in a Trans. CO. Yes he was deployed in '03 to Iraq, and he will be having another deployment no later than Nov '08 as soon as this summer. Don't know where yet.
My story is just as many of yours so far, chubby growing up, had an accident really screwed me up and the weight just kept coming and wouldn't lose and if I did, then it would come back full force plus some. I had thought about pursuing the surgery a few years ago, something held me back. I think it just wasn't right time. I had alot of fears about the surgery so I tried the "other route" didn't work. So I started to do some more research and my friends, friend had it done and she was very excited about it and was very encouraging especially with her surgeon. So, I went to see my doc and now I am currently filling the paperwork out to submit to the surgeon to see if he will fix me.
Oh, we are a very fun family, open minded and big hearted. We like to do things as a family, and to us family is everything. I, personally, am a good listener likes to have fun, nothing can shock me so if ya need to chat about ANYTHING I will be more than happy to listen. I like to read, play with my kids, shop. My motto is to live life to the fullest, and try anything once and if it don't kill you the first time do it again!!LOL.
