I am the proud mother of two beautiful daughters ages 25 and 27. I also have one beautiful granddaughter who is now 6 yrs old and will be in first grade this coming school year (2008). She is my oldest daughters child and she holds the key to her grandma's heart! My days and nights are filled with the joy of spending time and doing activities with my beautiful granddaughter who brightens each and every day of my life. Recently on June 3, 2008 I was blessed with another beautiful granddaughter by my youngest daughter! I'm so very excited!! I so look forward to spending time with her, watching her grown and develop and be a big part of her life as well. To me grandchildren are the most precious gifts god can give us besides our children!
I love spending time with my family and also going for long drives on roads I havent taken before. Seeing the sights that are different from home and taking pictures of our adventures is a lot of fun for me as well, as we make new memories that will be remembered forever. I also enjoy motocross races, classic cars and car shows, movies and my most favorite place that I call my home away from home is the ocean!

I cant believe how very sick I have felt since surgery. I am always  very neauseated, have a very extreme pain in the middle of my stomach and dry heaves which about kill me and diaherra. I was released Thursday (June 26th) and went back to emergency room Friday it was so unbearable. The surgeon wanted me to go clear back to Portland but I couldnt really afford the gas for another trip.. so he let me go to emergency room here locally as long as they called him and he could tell them what he wanted.  Thank god.. I didnt want to make that trip again!! They took many test, cat scan, xray and blood work and said it all came back good. Filled me with IV fluids,  neausea meds and pain killers and sent me home. The surgeon said he thinks I caught a gastroenal bug during surgery and said that happens sometimes. I went to see my surgeon  today (Wed. July 2 = a week since surgery) and he said he thinks the bug is just about out of my system now and that i'm on the downhill side of things and that things should start feeling much better for me in these next days to come. I cant wait for that t o happen!!! It seems though as long as I take the neausea medicine and the pain pills I honestly can handle most of whats going on with me now. I dont want to live off these pills for the rest of my life though so I hope it turns around soon!  I also got on the scale at the surgeons offce today.. one week post op.. i'm down 10 lbs!  I'm lower than I have been in 5 yrs so it made me feel good to see that! So thats where things stand as of now.. just waiting for that day I can say I feel fantastic like everyone else!!

I'm home...
Just thought I should let you all know i'm home and alive. For those of  you who sent kind words before and after surgery I want to thank you all it really meant a lot to me. As for how i'm doing... well...I had surgery Tuesday (24th)  and everything went good and for that i'm very glad as I had alot of pre-surgery jitters. I got to come home Thursday only to have to go back to the hospital for extreme pain and neausea in the middle of my stomach. (which I'm still having) I havent really been able to eat much since I got home it just wants to come back up. They thought I had a gastronial bug that  I might have caught during surgery...so they ran alot of blood test, cat scan to make sure stomach wasnt leaking.. chest xray etc.. and everything looked good they said. They put me on pain meds and some anti-neausea meds and they do help some what for a bit. I keep hoping i'll wake in the morning with this glourous outlook at having this surgery and I really envy the ones saying its been so great for them and how good they feel! I really want that feeling too right now! I go back to the doctor this week to see what he thinks. Just wanted to let you all know i'm home and alive and when i'm feeling better i'll come back and fill you all in with an update!  Hope your all having a great weekend and thanks again for the kinds messages!

Surgery is just around the corner now!!
on June 13, 2008 10:31 pm

June 13, 2008

Well surgery is now 11 days away and the butterflies are crawling around inside my stomach like crazy these days! So many things going on to keep me occupied and my mind off the days that it has been easy to forget for awhile. Monday June 2, 2008 I had oral surgery and had two back teeth removed.. during the process I think the dentist injured a nerve to my tongue and my taste buds as now everything taste disgusting. Only way to describe it is everything taste like gas or kerosene! YUCK! I guess the best part about it, it has kept me on track eating wise as I cant eat anything. The whole liquid diet thing will be a breeze for me! lol Although I did want to have a splurge day before surgery that wont be happening and in the long run its a good thing I guess! I have lost 15lbs now so the surgeon should be happy although they told me 5 to 10 lbs and said if I didnt lose it they would still go ahead with the surgery. But I feel good that I've lost it.. just not the way they wanted me to. I was suppose to be on a diet of 1/2 cup cottage cheese, fruit, yogurt/chicken or turkey. Then the 3 days before surgery i'm suppose to be on clear liquids which I'm finding isnt as hard to do as I thought it would be! June 3, 2008 I was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter who was 6lbs and 19 inches long by my youngest daughter. She's been a joy to spend time with and now have two beautiful granddaughters to share my time with! I also just found out my oldest daughter will be having a baby in December so once again i'll be grandma again! I love being a grandma!! So with the birth of my grandchild/grandchildren and my surgery the 24th.. this year is going to be full of new and exciting events in my life and I cant wait to enjoy each and every one of them!!

I HAVE A SURGERY DATE!!
on May 8, 2008 10:01 am
Well after my long wait of 4 yrs and an all day process today...I finally have a surgery date for my gastric bypass! I saw my surgeon  Dr. Jan at Good Samaritan today in Portland and all is a go for June 24th! It could have been June 10th and I was so excited and telling them yes yes yes...until I stopped myself and realized I have a new granddaughter due June 5th and she may or may not be here! I sure dont want to miss it  at all.. although I really want my surgery! So I told them to push it down to a couple a weeks later..then hopefully my grandbaby will be here.. plus my 5 1/2 yr old granddaughter who lives with me will be out of school and she will have had her birthday party the 20th and I wont miss a thing! I then will feel good at it then being my time! I'm excited but nervous and cant quit eating today for some reason.. I think my tummy heard and said lets get all we can while we can!  I hope surgery all goes good and I cant wait to see what happens! I know weight loss is a real struggle.. but i'm going to make this work and I'm ready!!  Dr. Jan also taled to me about the lap band...but I told him I wanted it to be permanate since I've had a problem with weight my whole life and he said there was nothing in my files that said I couldnt have the RNY so thats what I will be having! I sure hope I made the right decision! One year from now.. I cant wait to see what I will feel like..look like and be wearing!! Oo laa laa.. look out here I come!
