Have not been this site in a while.

Since I have not been on this site in a while I wanted to update my progress. I really hope in doing this I can remember where I started. I have done well lost about 40 lbs 10 pre surgery and 30 after. At first I did everything I was supposed to then when I got my 2nd fill it was too tight and I could not get any food down. However I learned the bad stuff went right down the band. After about 5 days I went back to the doctor and got another adjustment. It is great but I have picked up some bad habits that I am trying to get rid of. With my work hours I can not make it to any week night support groups which seems to be when most of them are held. Recently I have found one that meets on Saturday's and can not wait to go. Also I am getting some good recipe's and ideas to keep me going. I am heading back in the right direction and look forward to loosing more weight. I went through my closet and got rid of all of my clothes that are too big for me. I never want to be able to fit in to them again. So here is where I am at now. Talk to everyone later.

After Surgery
on May 10, 2008 6:39 pm
Well surgery was Monday May 5th. Time flew by. I stayed in the hospital Monday night and came home Tuesday. Boy was I glad to get home, no rest in the hospital. I have been home for 5 days now and am feeling better each day. The first 2-3 days I wondered what I had just done but now I do not regret a thing. I keep trying to find creative ways to get my protien in and am glad that good old milk is on the list because it always has been a favorite of mine. Everyday the pain gets a little better. Right now my only sore spot is where the port is, but that too gets better everyday. Once I can get back to sleeping on my side again I will be so happy. I am not a back sleeper so have not been getting much sleep at night but during the day try walk often and nap to help. Well that is it for today.

Getting a little nervous, in a good way
on April 18, 2008 11:20 pm
My surgery date is May 5th. It is approaching pretty quickly. I am so ready to have this done. I can not wait to get the weight off. I am nervous about the lifestyle change that I will have to make. I just pray that I can do it. I know there will be challenges but I am ready for them.

My Story

I have been overweight since elementary school. My first attempt at "dieting" was my first of many trips to Weight Watchers. The program is great but not for me. Each year that went by I gained at least 10 pounds which has contributed to where I am today. Last year I moved away from Florida to be closer to my family who at the time lived in Texas. I had no friends to go out and do things with and on top of that broke my foot so I spent all of my free time just sitting around. The just sitting added an extra 40 lbs to my already overweight body. This made my knees, back and hips to become so painful. Because of this I completely fell out of my workout routine. On top of that I have PCOS and have been told by many doctors this makes weight loss even more difficult. I finally started researching lap band surgery and met with a surgon in Texas. My insurance company told me I need 6 months of being on a medically supervised weight loss program. Once again I joined Weight Watchers and gained another 10 pounds. My family moved to Georgia so I followed in November. I got a new insurance provider in January and saw Dr. Williams in March and was approved for surgery at the begining of April. So here I am waiting for my surgery date on May 5th where I can start my new journey to be a healthier me.
