10-7-02 IT’S MY BIRTHDAY! I am 32! And, guess what? I am thinner today than when I was 31...maybe even when I was 30! WHHHOOOAAA! Weighed myself at work today and I am down to 264! 40.5 Lbs gone! Last night, I got a full body massage as a gift to myself and I felt great! I told my hubby last night during dinner that I feel AMAZING! I am going to curves tonight to join! Look out world, here I COME!

10-16-02 Today, I met with my Nutritionist, Patricia Blaho, RD. I have decided that I will see once a month. I think I need to use this "tool" to really re-learn how to eat. By seeing her and keeping a food diary, I feel I can watch & learn about my eating habits. Fitday.com has been the greatest thing in the world. Well, the RD told me that I need to curb my cheese addiction and eat only 1oz/day. I think I was having cheese at every meal. Also, I don’t need to have so many protein bars. I just love the ZONE Choc Peanut Butter bar, however, I am consistently getting in 60-80g of protein, so, I really don’t need that bar. I think as a meal replacement, yes, but as a snack/4th meal NO WAY! They taste too much like candy bars. Oh, and I almost forgot, Patricia said I CAN HAVE A DIET COKE! I am sooooooooo EXCITED! I am going to drink one this week. I REALLY hope I don't like them anymore, but this is the only thing I have been craving. I used to drink 6-8 a day pre-op. Midnight before surgery on 8/15, I went COLD TURKEY! It has been so hard. One, just one...I will let you know how it tastes :0)

10-17-02 Tonight was Support Group, I love going to Support Group. My husband teases me about it and says I get excited like a teenager and refers to it as “going to prom”…What a HOOT! Finally met my friend, Berta, who I have been talking to on the phone since July. She surprised me and showed up to Group. It was a nice surprise.

10-18-03 Had my 2 month review (I was 2 months on the 15th). I am down 44.5 Lbs to 260lbs. I am very proud of myself. However, I feel I should be losing more. Hopefully, with the advice I got from the RD on Wed, I will to maximize this month. Dr. Leitman Ok’d me to start doing a FULL WORKOUT! No 300 sit-ups or anything (like I would anyway)…But, I am going to join Curves for Women on Monday night and also start playing Volleyball again. Oh, INCISION UPDATE: Still not closed. Dr. Leitman put some black ointment on it, and says it will close “any day now”…I think I have heard this before.

10-19-02 Cleaned out my closet today. I am sending a bunch of clothes to a wonderful woman in Upstate NY. Also, went to Manhattan Mini Storage (yes us New Yorker’s, pay for extra closet space) and brought home all the clothes (size 16-22) that now fit & may soon fit. The only thing I left there was my summer dresses.

10-25-02 I haven't been on here much lately, since having surgery 10wks ago, my life has resumed to normal or better than normal. BUT, I wanted to let y’all now that my incision (open RNY 8-15) has FINALLY CLOSED UP and is NO LONGER LEAKING!!!!!! That thing has been leaking like a faucet for 9 weeks! Thank you Thank you Thank you....Oh, also, I am down to 49lbs to 255.5lbs (originally 304.5)

11-1-02 I think my little plateau has broken (down to 252, 52.5 Lbs). I joined the gym last week and now go to HRC in Manhattan 5X per week. TI get up at 6am, eat my Zone protein bar while walking there (8 blks, 3 aves) and work out for 30-45 minutes. My main goal is to keep my target heart rate from 125-140. I swim laps, take a yoga class, ride the recumbent bike, do a step class, spinning, water aerobics, etc...I also sometimes do 15 minutes in the hot tub or sauna. I am really enjoying it. I am not planning on going on the weekends as I do enough walking around the city anyway.

11-2-02 Tomorrow is my 1st Wedding Aniv, I am so excited. So much has happened this year. Today I made my hubby Choc Peanut Butter Cookies & Double Choc Chip Cookies and you know what, I WANTED ONE SO BAD! I am proud to say I didn't eat any batter, nor did I eat not even a morsel of a cookie although I contemplated chewing one up and spitting it out! I probably could have eaten one since I don't dump, but, I was good and I am proud of myself!

11-5-02 I am now officially under 250lbs, I weighed in this morning @ the gym and I weighed 249lbs! I am down 55.5 Lbs in less than 12wks. I want to be down 60 by my 3-month aniv on Nov 15th, so, I need to lose 4.5lbs by next Friday! I think if I continue to get my lazy butt out of bed every morning and go to the gym, I should be successful!

11-7-02 I think I have found through trial & error that I was NOT eating enough. I have been eating like 800 calories a day and about 60-90g of protein. However, this week I think I have been closer to 1000 calories and my weight seems to be coming off better. I am down another 2lbs this am. I guess the whole "eat more, loss more" works or maybe it’s the going to the gym everyday! Whatever it is, it is working and I am THRILLED!

Unless something bad happens, I should be down at my goal of 60lbs @ 3mos (on the 15thm 2.5lbs more to go).

11-12-02 Guess what! I met my 3 month goal...Got on the scale this AM at the gym and I was down to 244, I am down 60.5lbs! I wanted to be down 60 by the 15th and I did it! My next short term goal is to be down 80lbs by 4mos (12-15) and 90lbs by New Years Eve! Hopefully, achieving this will be easier now that I got a new exercise buddy, her name is Layla and she is a 3 month old English Bulldog. I got her this weekend in Upstate NY. I have wanted a dog for awhile and she was my gift to myself!

11-15-02 Three Months Out today and down 60.5lbs. Currently holding at 244lbs all week. It’s also that Magical time of the month, so, that is probably why the scale didn't budge. I went to Water Aerobics the other night, it was wonderful...I am still a little sore. I have a HUGE Nat'l Conference for my company Jan 22-24; I would really love to be down 100lbs by then. Last time I had one of these was in July and I was at 300lbs. However, that’s 40 Lbs in a little over 2 months. I REALLY want to do it. I wouldn't be disappointed if I don't as long as I am down 100lbs by my 6mos aniv on 2/15.

11-20-02 I have hit a plateau...I haven't lost anything since the 12th...In fact for the past few days, the scale crept back up from 244 to 245.5 and today, it went back down to 244. I know, I know, I know, I need to stop weighing myself every other day. I need to weigh in once wk ONLY, maybe Fridays or Monday. I have decided to go back to eating almost ALL PROTEIN, cut the carbs and hopefully I can kick this plateau. Still going to the gym 5X/week, so, I am doing something right. Tomorrow night (thurs) is Support Group, I am looking forward to mtg a fellow AMOS member that I have been emailing and watching her progress. I am also bringing a friend, my husband's best friends' wife along. Can't wait!

11-22-02 Went to support group last night @ Lenox Hill! Met a lot of wonderful people, pre & post ops. Our group seems to have grown in popularity since Al Roker came out of the closet about having his surgery at Lenox Hill. Roslin & Kurian where there and there had to be 50-75 people in attendance. Met Paula M from here, she looks FABOULUS! She is like my WLS Idol! Oh, got on the scale this morning at the gym, FINALLY that damn scale moved! Down another 2lbs to 242! Total of 62.5lbs in 12 wks.

11-24-02 Went out last night with the girls...I had, for the first time, a drink, or two! I had a Corona and also a Diet Coke w/ Captain Morgan's Rum. They did nothing to me except make me very sleepy. I have wanted to know if I can drink, so, that is why I did it. My dtr had warned me that "one drink and you become a VERY cheap date"...so, I was quite worried. Also, on a HEALTHIER note, I had a fitness evaluation at the gym and I am going to start with a personal trainer on Tuesday night. Also, looking forward to going home for Gobble Gobble Day. Haven't seen my sister since I got out of the hospital (she came up & stayed with me).

11-26-02 (down 64.5lbs) Scales are moving again, down to 240/239 closer to 240. I am now thinner than I was this time in 2001 and 2000. Looking forward to GOBBLE GOOBLE day on Thursday!

11-28-02 HAPPY THANKSGIVING...Can't wait to go home later today. What a year it has been, I have so much to be thankful for: my life, my family, my hubby, WLS, Dr Leitman, my wonderful friends, that I am employed and that I live a free life here in the . Ohh Yeah, what I am going to eat tonight, I originally thought about having ONLY Turkey, but that would be NO FUN! I think I might get a baby spoon and have , plus a baby spoon of everything else (I will update later on my success). Got the results of my blood work today, ALL NORMAL ! YEAH! Made another appt to see my Nutritionist, Patricia Blaho, RD, for the week after next. I think it is important for me to see her every 6-8 wks. I always have to remember that this surgery is ONLY A TOOL! As such, I need to re-learn what & how to eat PROPERLY and HEALTHY! Also, I found a personal trainer, her name is Victoria and she has worked with several WLS patients before. A personal trainer is kind of pricey; however, I am worth it. The price is $2000 for 25 sessions (1 hr each). I think I am going to do Cardio 3X/wk (M/TH/F) and work with the trainer 2X/wk (Tuesday nights and Saturdays).
