Well things are getting better!!
on March 7, 2008 3:21 pm

Not even sure where to begin this one!!! Lets see so many things have changed for me.  Most for the better, well actually all for the better in all reality!

My youngest daughter has decided it was time to come live with me full time, which has been so completely fantastic!! She is such a sweetheart and she makes me laugh everyday!  My oldest daughter is doing great graduated from h/s a year early and is attending college full time as well as holding down a full time job!  She is the most responsible 17 year old that I know.  Hell she is more responsible than some 30 year olds I know!!!

My days are filled with new adventures all the time as I have began running, my old friend!!!  My daughter is always asking to go walk the dam so we do that several times a week as well.

This has been such an amazing journey and I find it more and more incredible all the time.  I am now wearing a size 34 waist pants and I think it has probably been close to 20 years since that has happened.  Thank you WLS and Dr. Nichols!! And thank you to all the people I have met here on OH the support and friendliness are absolutely unbelievable!!  Anyhow I guess I need to go see what is happening out in the living room with my daughter, paint and the cat....should be interesting!!!!

What a slacker in the update department!!
on February 15, 2008 12:19 pm

So where do I even start?  Let's see so many things have changed for me, I have lost over 100 pounds and it hasn't even been six months since my surgery date!!!  I have lost 12 inches off my waist alone.  I need to go take measurements since I haven't done that in three months.  Life is alright at the moment.  Been thru a lot in the last few months.  But surgery wise all is good, I feel great, my labs have all come back excellent, and I have not had any bad side affects from the surgery, (once I learned to eat slower and a few things to avoid totally).

Well I posted a few new pics, the one with my gun belt is crazy and one hell of an eye opener, I haven't worked uniform patrol since before my surgery and I just ran across my gun belt in the trunk of my car and thought I wonder how that fits, needless to say as evident by the picture, It doesn't!!! And the last time I wore it I remember it being a bit snug.

Well hopefully things will settle down for me and I will be able to keep a more consistent update going on.

L8R!!

My journey began!
on August 30, 2007 6:08 pm
So I arrived at SRMC for my procedure at 0930 hours, and all went well.  I was taken into pre-op pretty swiftly... and the torture begins.

There was another person in pre-op and not sure why he was there but he had like 8 people on his side of the room and they of course kept spilling over onto my side and I swear their favorite topic of discussion the entire time I was there was FOOD!!!!  I was so ready to seriously go off...as it was just ridiculous that this mob just kept yammering about nothing else but food.

So finally I got wheeled into surgery and I would like to explain more but the last thing I recall was them strapping my arms down and doing something with my feet.  I then woke up in recovery and felt pretty much ok, out of it for sure, but not in pain and just mildly uncomfortable.

So my stay went pretty good, minus the whole food and roomie issue which I will quit bitching about.  The staff at SRMC is beyond awesome.  I must say I do not think I would have asked a single one of them to do anything different. Arlynn, Ryan, Pilar, Linda, Jamie, Becky and all the rest of the wonderful staff who took such wonderful care of me thank you so much.  Even if I did get yelled at for walking too much.  I have had absolutely no complications to date and Dr. Nichols is as amazing as I thought he would be.  Not real talkative but very succinct and to the point.  Thanks Doc!!

So thats about it for now I will post more as this whole new life unfolds before me.

Old Habits die hard
on August 26, 2007 3:33 am
Ok so i don't know if it is because of the excitement of the whole idea that Tuesday I am undergoing such a huge transformtion in my life or if I am just hungry, but the last few days I have woken up in the wee am hours and been unable to go back to sleep.  I'm not complaining I don't think, I used to thrive on 4 hours of sleep a night and be perfectly fine.  I think my mind and body have placed me back on that schedule....not sure why.  I just wake up and I am wide awake.

So as my surgery date draws nearer, I am thinking I need to do a couple of things, I need to sit down and write out a couple of letters to my girls, not a pleasant thought but a real thought.  What if something goes terribly, horribly, wrong.  Eeeekk horrible to think about but.....................

I also need to take a couple before pics and some measurements...... oh joy to that one.

And last but not least today I need to spend some time in the kitchen making lots and lots of sf jello for tomorrow....

My Story

My story pretty much goes the same as so many of us...... I have pretty much always been a lean mean fighting machine struggling to get the hell out of this fat guy suit I seem to have been gifted with for the majority of my adult life.   And finally after trying to figure out what the hell has gone wrong with the washing machine and why it keeps shrinking all of my clothing I have just reached the conclusion that I really don't, and didn't have any other choice.  So I started looking into Gastriac Bypass, well there was a wealth of information on the web, I didn't even know where to start.  Should I drive to Mexico and go for the El Cheapo Special......  probably not.  Hmmmm ... So a friend of mine was also looking unbeknownst to me and he suggested Shasta Regional.....  Wow!!   I was totally impressed with these folks from the start.  So I mentioned all of this to my partner at work and he too also got interested and and began researching the option....He is unfortunately stuck with the Kaiser Insurance Hoops and Circles dilema and is wading his way thru.

I must say I have been very fortunate and lucky to have dodged all of the weight related problems that most of my family have experienced, so hopefully I am taking control of my own destiny and will prevent a lot of those issues from ever coming to light.
