Feeling Better
on July 10, 2009 5:46 am
I had the RNY gastic Bipass and I feel great.  I thought that I would be in a lot more pain then I am.  I can get up and wlk all around the house, I can take the stairs and make my own meals.  Yesterday was my first full day home and I didn't even need a pain pill, I just took some tylenol.  I'm sooo glad that I made this journey.  I'm read for the changes it will bring to my life...On the flip side I also can't wait to eat solid foods again...these liquids are getting tedious...I swear I would still eat healthy as long as it's SOLID!!! lol  Bt all in all I'm thrilled with how I'm recovering...I had a pretty bad start o my surgery.  I forgot that the hospital needed a urine sample the morning of so I called before I left for the hospital and they said it was okay cuz I could just o there after all I would be there 3 hours pre op.  I got my butt down to the hospital after scrubbing myself down rigorously with an antibac body wash...twice.  After the nurses hooked me up to fluids I finally peed...yay!!  The nurses cme to get me early because the surgery before mine backed out...(poor thing) and when I get down to the OR waiting room I find out that the lab put my urine through the wrong machine!!!! This means that I have to try to pee again which i of course couldn't do so they had to put a catheter in while I was awake which is a totally embarassing totally painul experience...it delayed my surgery an hour and a half!!!  I couldn't believe it.  When They finally got the pregnancy test back..and it was negative (big shock I'm a lesbian...) I was ready to roll.  Literally...they rolled me into the OR and that's all she wrote...I woke up in recovery in a ton of pain where they promptly gave me morphine...3 viles. and then the rest of the hospital stay pretty much sucked...Now that I'm home I'm doing fabulous and loving it.  I wish all the 7'6ers and everyone having the surgery the best of luck!!

Post Op...Finally

I'm home from my surgery..well sort of.  After undergoing RNY gastric Bipass on 7/6 i stayed in the hospital for exactly 48 hours before I was released to my mother's loving care.  My mom has been so great through this whole process.  She was there from 12pm to 10 pm both days in the hospital and now that Im at her house she is waiting on me hand and foot and giving me the space to walk around when I need to.  I'm up and about a lot better than I thought that I would be, but the gas pain is really bothering me.  I feel like a hot air balloon.  I am suprised at how full I am and how much I DON"T care about food.  I never thought that I would get to this point.  One thing that's a hang up for me is that I can't sleep in a bed.  Last night was my first night out of the hospital and I had to sleep in my mom's recliner instead of the bed in the guest room because I coudn't get comfortable.  My girlfriend of 3 years is looking forward to taking me home on Sunday so that she can take care of me but if I can't sleep in a bed by then, I'll have to stay at my mom's.  We only have a very low couch and a bed in my apartment so if I can't sleep in a bed then really, I won't have anywhere to be comfortable at home.  I feel bad because I know that she's excited about bringing me home but I don't think it's going to work.  I know there are a few other's out there who had there surgery on the same day or it's upcoming soon.  Good luck to everyone!
