Surgeon Testimonial

John J. Gleysteen M.D.
My impression was that he is a very TALL and serious man. He seems very detailed and meticulous, although glancing at his watch was a little annoying.

His office is enormous. It's at UAB's Kirklyn Clinic. His assistant (nurse? ) Barbara is a hoot. The nurse that I met today Gina was very nice. She said I looked younger than i am (yeah!) and wants to use my hair stylist. I'm a sucker for compliments :o )

Dr. Gleysteen has been performing gastric bypass surgeries for over 20 years! He is a professor at UAB, he is published in medical journals and has completed multiple studies on gastric bypass surgery. his credentials are excellent.

A big difference is that I don't sweat like a horse anymore. I just realized that the past few days. I also get cold much more easily. I used to fairly drip sweat all the time, just out of exertion doing things around the house.. not anymore! it takes a REAL workout to get the perspiration going and even then it's nothing like what i used to go through.

i passed the 300 pound mark and i'm in the 2's. so proud! so excited! clothes are fitting much better, and i fit in chairs and such without and worry. i'm even comfortable in movie theater seats, and i don't worry if the seatbelt is going to fit when i get in someone else's car!

i see my therapist weekly. i think that's important for people having weight loss surgery. most people didn't get to be morbidly obese because they like potato chips. there is usually some sort of emotional issue. and therapists are a wonderful tool to dig out some of that stuff and work it over with you.
