My Story

I had a roux en y gastric bypass in November 2000 with Dr. Emma Patterson in Portland, Oregon.  I weighed 260 pounds,  I lost 100 pounds in 13 months.  My goal weight was 150 pounds.  I never got to goal.  The same month I hit the 100 pound mark, my boyfriend committed suicide and I gained 10 pounds in 5 weeks.

I maintained that weight for a few years until I got pregnant.  My husband left me during the pregnancy and I decided to eat to survive (as opposed to drinking alcoholically or killing myself).  Since that time I have tried Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous (FA) and I went to inpatient food addiction treatment for 6 weeks in June of 2009 at Turning Point in Tampa, Florida.

I am back up to my starting weight of 260.  Life has become all about my weight; trying to walk up the stairs, find clothes that fit, bend over and tie my shoes.

I having a revision to a doudenal switch on November 22, 2010 - the ten year anniversary of my RNY!

I'm tired of being part of the living dead.  Here's hoping for real change!
