Surgeon Testimonial

Keith Zuccala MD
My first impression of Doctor Zuccala was "Wow he looks young". He looks like he is about my age or a little older. I am not thirty yet if that tells you anything. And then I thought , how many of these procedures has he done if he is so young?

My impression changed trmemdously after we began to talk. I found him to be very sincere and to the point. He is very knowledgeable on the procedures that he performs.

He answered all of my questions in a very friendly and curteous manner.

His office staff was great! Especially Cathy, she goes out of her way to answer any questions that I have. If she does not know the answer, she does not stop until she finds it.
There was nothing that I disliked about Dr. Zuccala.
Future patients should know that Dr. Zuccala is a very professional Doctor, he does not sugar coat things. He gives you a very realistic picture of the procedure, follow-up care and what you need to do to get the best results from surgery.

Dr. Zuccala strongly emphasizes aftercare. As a matter-of-fact if we would not have had a strong aftercare program in place, he probably would not do my surgery because I live such a great distance away.

Dr. Zuccala has a very structured aftercare program in place; he also has a support group that meets regularly.
Dr. Zuccala was very honest with me about the possible risks of surgery. I had already been researching WLS for two years so he only confirmed what I already had knowledge of.

I will rate Dr. Zuccala after my surgery. So far, I am please with him and his staff.
I believe that both surgical competence and bedside manner are important when choosing a surgeon.

The Long Road Home...
on July 19, 2010 2:54 pm
7-19-10

Well, I am at nearly  8 years post-op and I am finally realizing that my surgery was just a tool. I did everything that you are not supposed to do in the first year out, however, I will not travel that road today. I am celebrating the fact that over the past 10 months, I have lost  -200lbs!!  Yes, 200 lbs!!

Don't get me wrong, it has been a tough and difficult journey, but what I now realize is that I did not need a revision, I did not strech my pouch...

My limitations and barriers were in my mind. I had so many motivating factors that encouraged me to get up and stop beating myself up over what I did not accomplish.

I weighed roughly 391-396lbs when I started this journey. Now I weigh 191 lbs. I have sort of plateaued right now but that is ok because I am still loosing inches.

The most difficult part about loosing this weight again, is dealing with why I put it on in the first place?...

I am ready to encourage and motivate others no matter what their decision is about weight loss surgery. The first step in doing this, is to post on my blog, to open up abut my struggles and my healing process.

I still credit Dr. Zuccala with preforming the surgery so well that I did not ruin the work that him and my surgical team did when I gained all of that weight back!! I shudder to think what could have happened physically. A lot happened, for me , emotionally and spiritually....
