I am new to the family here at obesityhelp.com and wanted to try and write my story so here goes. I am 49 yrs old and started this journey at actually 315 before loosing a few pounds before surgery and got down to 296. I had my gastric bypass on 1/26/07. There were complications during my surgery, when they took one of the tools out, it nicked my liver and I was bleeding inside. 4 days after my surgery and 3 pints of blood later, they went back in to cauterize the bleeder and fix me up. I was in the hospital for 11 days before being able to go home. Once I went home, I tried to go back to work after two weeks.. big mistake. I ended back in the hospital dehydrated and not able to eat. I to date have have 4 barriam (sp?) swallows with lower bowel and 2 scopes. They did find a small red area and were treating it as the start of an ulcer. As far as I know that healed up nicely. I am currently down from a size 26 to a size 20/22 and my weight is down to 243 (53 lbs). It is coming off slow, a bit slower than I anticipated but I am happy so far with the results. I struggle with what I am allowed to eat and my cravings. When I am at work it isn't quite as bad because I am able to stay busy working on the phones. I feel bad because I want to eat out of boredom. I get head hunger as well. I am fighting with myself all the time. One day though, I hope to be happy with myself instead of still seeing the heavy set person I have been for quite some time. Thanks for listening (or reading as it is) All the best!!
