Thanks Andrea!
I finally had a decent protein shake the other morning. My good friend Andrea made me a cookies and cream protein shake the other day made with cool whip and 1 sugar free cookie.  Much to my suprise, it wasn't bad!  I think it tastes way better than the Matrix cookies and cream flavor that I've trying to force down.
So thanks Andrea for motivating me to get more protein

Need more protein!
on November 8, 2008 2:12 pm
I know I've been slacking on my protein.  I try to eat lots of cottage cheese and meat- foods higher in protein because I'm not drinking my shakes like I should be.
Last night, after my shower, is when I noticed more of my hair coming out  I knew the day was coming but it really scares me.  I hope it scares me enough to start drinking those nasty shakes.

1 month Dr. appt (really it's 6 weeks)
on September 18, 2008 1:48 pm
Well, I was honest with Dr. H today and told him I have been getting sick at least once a day.  I thought it was because I was eating too fast but he seems to think that I am just one of the lucky 5% that is stenotic!   I really haven't tried too many solid foods like steak or hamburger.  I've been sticking to cottage cheese and yogurt.
So I go back to the hospital tomorrow morning for a scope...that means another I.V!   Wish me luck!

Finally 199!!
on September 15, 2008 9:24 am
Oh how I've waited for this day    Even though it down poured the whole timewe spent my birthday weekend in Chicago. I thought with all the walking I'd for sure come back under 200 lbs.  This morning the scale said 199.4 and I'll take it!  My weight loss is still kind of slow at the moment but of course I could be walking more and eating a little better.

Stuck!
on September 11, 2008 5:48 pm
I think I'm still doing pretty good with my weight loss- but like most people, my weight loss is kind of at a stand still.  I've been trying to get under 200 for a couple weeks now.  Even though I was pre-warned that it will happen it's enough to make you nuts!  I've been back to work for a couple weeks now and I'm finding it hard to make time to eat there.  I'm sure that's slowing the weight loss too.
I'm going away to Chicago for my bday this weekend so I'm sure I'll be walking a lot.  I'm hoping to come back at 199.  That'll be a great bday present to me!!

My Story

I'm 31 years old with a new marriage and a 11 year old son.  I've struggled with my weight since puberty.  My weight reached a high of around 230 lbs. during my first marriage- around age 22.  Since then I've struggled to keep it consistant but to no avail  I've gone as low as 160 lbs. twice in my adulthood- once in 2003 and the other more recently in December 2006. I was VERY happy with that weight and being a size 12/14.  I only maintained that weight for a couple months both times and it all came back.
For my 30th birthday I joined Medical Weight Loss Clinic and was determined to turn over a new leaf.  I did great and lost about 40 lbs...and again put it all back on (plus some)  After this last quick weight gain it's become nearly impossible to drop weight again.  That's when I started looking into bariatric surgery.  I guess I never thought I could qualify.  Now that I know I do I feel that there is FINALLY a light at the end of my very dark tunnel.
