Karl Strom, MD
I can not tell you how happy I am with my surgeon Dr. Strom, both him and his staff are outstanding. They are with you every step of the way through the process from dealing with the insurance companies to providing a support group that meets every month.

Wednesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench!

Today, had all my pre op tests done at the hospital.  I had Bloodwork, EKG and they took a chest X-ray.  Everything went smooth with the exception of having to wait a for the X-ray.  Next week I going to meet with my surgeon to go over final questions.  I had to do a 2 week presurgical liquid diet and started it  a few days early and today im 1 week into it and other than a few times I dealt with head hunger things have not been that bad.

Today was my endoscopy and last final test. Yippie, Woo Hoo!
Next step is to follow up with the surgeon and see where they are with paper work to the insurance company.  Last time I checked they were still working on people getting their surgery in July.  At least I can sit back and relax.

I made a decision Lapband is the WLS for me

April 1, 2007

After checking with my insurance company, I found out they do cover WLS and it is part of my company's plan.  Going through the list of doctors that are approved is limited so I will pick one and see what I can find out.

I have made an appointment.  I am on my way.  He has not done a lot of surgery's but he was recommended by my new PCP

I am only going to be telling a few people about the WLS.  So far the people that I have told are very supportive.  In fact one of my friends have given me a flyer for a local hospital because they are having a seminar.

Went to the seminar and was this doctor great, so good that I made an appointment with him and have canceled my other appointment.

Visited with Dr. Strom office and met with his partner.  What a great office everyone was nice and very helpful.  This looks like it is going to be a very good experience.

Today my son is taking his friend to her Prom, while we were at her Grandmothers one of her friends had been banded by Doctor Strom last year and had dropped over 60lbs.  Well I spent most of the night talking to her about her journey, it was excellent, see suggested I go with her on Wednesday to her support group so I can be exposed to other people and get any questions I have answered.  I really didn't want to share with them the WLS, but they were very supportive and excited for me at the same time.

Today I visited the Psychiatrist, and I made it out alive.  I was told not to try on any jackets.  LOL the doctor was about an hour late, it was pretty funny because we were all sitting in the waiting room and one by one we went around the room, Im the 12...Im the 12:15 and so on.  It would be bad if it was a normal office, it was more like a the doctor rented a room and there was a common area in the lobby and no one knew what to do.  It was a good thing one of the Doc's regular patients walked in and laughed and said I guess she is late. She said this was normal.  I passed so I won't have to visit that doctor again.

Today went to have my Pulmonary Function test done.

May 31, 2007

Today went to the pulmonary doctor and went over the results from my Pulmonary Function test.  Good news I am clear for this part for the surgery and no sleep study needed.  Other news is i have Asthma and have to take an inhaler.  I always thought that when I was out of breath it was do to the weight, as I found out today that was only part of it.

June 11, 2007

A follow up with the pulmonary doctor went well, he summited all my clearance paper work to my surgeon last week.  As of last week my paper work was not submitted yet to the insurance company yet, they were still working on the people scheduled for July.  Also went to the Cardiologist for clearance. Check upi went fine and made an appointment for an Echo cardiogram and waiting for them to schedule a stress test.  At the end of the month with have an endoscope and hopefully that will be the end of tests.

Today had a nuclear Stress test done and Woo Hoo made it with flying colors.  One more test on Wednesday and I am finished.
