My Story I'm Jennifer. I'm a 37 year old, married, mother of one almost-5year old sweetpea. I have had weight issues since high school. I feel, now, that the issues were undiagnosed PCOS. I was very active in my teens (pom pon squad, track and such), but the weight gain was always right under the surface...waiting to rear its ugly head. I could gain weight just looking at french fries and cheeseburgers. Once I got to college I did gain the "freshman ??" I really don't know how much. Not awful, but the pattern continued. Also was having irregular period issues and instead of any hormone/ultrasound investigation, started on OCP. Problem solved, Right? Wrong. Weight issues continue. Time passes. Graduation. Nursing school. Diagnosis: Autoimmune Thyroid Disorder. Courtship. Weight gain. Marriage. Weight gain. Baby-making attempts. Weight gain. No period. No baby. No ovultion. See the doctor. Diagnosis: PCOS. Finally!! 6 months later...with medication...BABY!!!...Whew. Now, almost 5 years later...Hypothyroid-PCOS-Insulin Resistance-preDiabetes-preHypertension(had while pregnant...now high normal)-Acne-Facial Hair. Yea. Nice!! Oh, and Morbid Obesity. Current weight 265#. BMI - 44. Husband had RNY procedure June 2002. Have always been of the mindset that I can lose the weight on my own. I don't need that surgery. That's the "easy way" and I can just work a little harder and do it myself. So then recently I finally asked myself, " Hey, how's that workin' for ya?" And it so wasn't working. Today...Mindset Changed. Surgeon Located. Insurance Approval. Waiting On Date. Scared. Excited. Ready. Let's Go!!! If Not Now...When? Cheers, Jennifer
