Surgeon Testimonial

Toby Broussard, M.D.
Dr. Toby Broussard and all of the staff at Weight Wise Bariatric Center/Foundation Bariatric Hospital are very supportive and encouraging. Dr. Broussard is absolutely a world class surgeon and a very down to earth individual. He knows medicine with all of its fine points of intellectual knowlege and by instinct with the inner drive of a true healer with a sense of calling to practice bariatric medicine. I can not imagine finer care. I would trust Dr. Broussard with my life...in fact I did !! You will not find a better surgeon.
The team approach at Weight Wise was EXACTLY what I needed.

My story might be a little different from yours but our struggles are mostly the same. I have been super obese since early childhood. I am now 45. I have 40 years worth of despair which I am gleefully trading in for a new life. I began this second half of my life on April 16, 2008. A re-birth day on so many levels...

3 months out from Surgery
on October 26, 2008 6:57 pm
I had a great idea this week! I asked a friend at work to be my walking buddy. She said yes! I have been walking at my target heart range 20-30 minutes every day. Our plan is to walk together at the mall 5 days a week. She keeps me accountable . I go back to the Doc on Nov. 6th. I am hoping to have lost 6 more pounds for an even 100 pounds lost. We'll see....

Oct. 2 Support group meeting UPDATE
on October 3, 2008 4:38 am
Support group meeting at Weight Wise. I always try to weigh on their official scales when I'm there for a support group meeting. As of Oct.2 I have lost a total of 85 pounds!!!!!!.  I haven't talked much about my life in the past 5 years or so. But here goes... I found some pictures of me from that time frame. I avoided the scale (there was no scale---even in the Doctors office that would go high enough) and I avoided cameras, So I will never really know for sure how high my highest weight was. But let's just say I certainly was very near 500 pounds. That was way before I spent  a year getting healthier after a bout with profound anemia. On my own, I lost more than 50 pounds. So even though I cannot document my grand total ---my family can verify that I have lost about way more than what has been documented since April 2008. And the pictures of me are painful proof enough...

My Story

I have been morbidly obese since at least the age of 3. I know now that I did in fact have a skewed childhood and adolescence due to obesity. But I always worked around it. The scars are there just the same. I try not to spend much time looking back at this point. I now have so much to look forward to. I never really believed that my physical body would be "normal" or "average". If it is to be, it is up to me.  The journey has begun!!!
