A new doc & hosptial
I went to visit with Dr. Gandsas at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore,  I was very impressed by him and this staff.  I did not feel like a number but like someone who was going to make a life changing decision and they were all ready to empower we with knowledge.  I also have a co-worker who had her surgery with him 4 years ago and she said nothing but positive things about him and the entire Sinai team.

Now all I am waiting on is to get all the preop testing done and for the previous hospital to forward medical file.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers to get everything done.

Changing hosptials

Well, I have made a decision along with John Hopkins that they are not  the best place to meet my needs to getting healthy.  Its a long story that I will keep to myself at this time.  So I am exploring different programs and will post once I have made a decision.  Wish me luck and blessings!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Johns Hopkins

Hiya -
Well, I finally had my appointment with Dr. Schweitzer at JH to discuss the DS surgery.  I went into the appointment fully prepared for his "business like" demeanor that everyone talks about .  I am not a touchy feely person so I was okay with a direct doctor.
Unfortunately, I did not get a direct doctor, I got a doctor who was treating me like I am a dumb ass and wasting his time.  I was a little disappointed that he did not look at me, and did not appreciate the fact that I came in with  questions and well informed.

But he did he help me make my decision.  I have decided to move forward with the RNY.   Dr. S. could not provide me with any statistics about DS with the elderly.  But he could with the RNY.  Its a risk I am not prepared to take.  I work in a retirement community and the aging process is difficult so I am not prepared for that extreme malabsorption as I age.  Its a personal decision and I respect those who have done DS but at this time its not for me.

My Story

I have been overweight since I can remember.  I was recently reading my diary and it sadened me to see that I have been fightening obesity insce the age of 13 with little success.  Now, I am 37 and at this point in my life I am ready to live and feel better about myself.  I suffer from PCOS and I have been gaining weight for years.  I am ready to end this cycle and start living again. Hoping to have RNY soon.

I had two 2nd-trimester miscarriages after 2 cycles of IVF.  I have been on metformin and continue to take it for my insulin resistance. I do not have any children but hope that this process will help me conceive a baby and cary it ful term.
