Excited for you and your big day. Have a very easy surgery and a quick recovery and then come on over to the LW board and tell us how you're doing. Big hugs and best wishes.

FINAL NUT VISIT - IM ON MY WAY
on November 7, 2011 11:16 am
3 NUT visits - check
1 psyche eval - check
1 meeting with bariatric nurse - check
2 bariatric classes - well, almost check, my 2nd one is tomorrow

Today was my 3rd and final NUT visit.  Everything looks good.  She emailed the Bariatric nurse so she can get my paperwork together and submit everything to my insurance.  I should hopefully hear back from them in approx 4 weeks.  I'm so excited but oh so nervous also.....

MY STORY
on November 6, 2011 1:22 pm

My name is Kristy and I am 39, married to my wonderful husband for 2 years now and I have 5 children, 2 girls that are 23 and 19 and 3 boys that are 15 and twins that are 13, I also have 2 step sons that are 19 and 16.  Oh, and let's not forget the grandbaby coming in December 2011.    I have so much to be greatful for, I have such a great life, Im truely happy for the first time in a long time and it feels GREAT!  I have a wonderful husband, great kids and a very supportive family.

I have been having weight issues since the birth of my second child.  I dont put on weight really super fast, but more of a gradual upswing one might say, but none the less, the scale always seems to go up instead of down.  I passed the 200lb mark about 6 years ago and have since gained another 24lbs which puts me at my highest weight ever of 224.  I found out in January of 2009 that I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and the magnificent type 2 diabetes.    I tried oral medication for about 1 year but it never really helped so I have been on insulin for almost 2 years now.  Im also on medication for my high cholesterol and high blood pressure and the last time I had my labs done, things seemed ok.

I started looking into WLS about 4 years ago when I met my husband.  He is also overweight and we just struggle together... and gain more weight.  We both talked about WLS on and off but within the last 4 or 5 months, we have decided to take the plunge and just do it!  We both want to be healthier but struggle so much with "sticking" to any kind of life style change.  When I found out I was diabetic I lost 11lbs, woohoo,  but you guessed it, it came right back on, and then some.  Lucky me!  Both my husband and I are in the middle of our pre-surgery duties and are both really excited about the new lives that we will have going forward.  We want to be able to go out and do things, things that are difficult for us now because of our weight and we cant wait to start our journey!
