Just wanted to say I love my OH family!
on July 27, 2008 9:21 am
I am now down to a size 20 pants and almost an 18.  Fits if I do not sit down:)  LOL!  Still in a 22/24 top - lost of loose skin around the upper belly area.

I bought my first two piece bathingsuit.  It is a tankini, which for a tall and heavy woman can cause issues if the arms are raised.  It is a size 20 and it really doesn't expose my belly like I thought it would.  I will post a pic of it later and let my OH family decide if it was a bad choice.  My aunt says it is cute and I feel pretty good in it. :)

I feel so good but have noticed I am not standing straight like I use to.  They say it is due to the weight making me slump forward and now that it is comming off the bad posture is revealed.  I am going to a chiropracter and it is working on the issue.

Best wishes everyone and lets drop those pounds. :)

Down 200 lbs size 24
on June 22, 2008 8:00 am
I am so excited to share that I am down 200 lbs and just have 75 more lbs to go to have lost half of my body weight!  I am in a size 24 or a 2 X (was in a 44 or 6X).  I feel so good health wise.  I hardy ever have any back pain any more.  I have a ruptured L5.  Still working out in the pool.

I also feel really cute at a size 24.  One of my origional thoughts was if I can just get down to an 18/20 I will be so happy and consider this surgery a smashing sucess.  I am 6 foot tall and very happy at 18/20.

I posted new pics showing the size 24.  I feel too cute in that blue outfit!  It is a really nice feeling!

I am now working on losing another 75 lbs which will put my total weight loss at 275 lbs this year and make me have lose half of my body weightin 1 year.  I have till 10/29/08 to make it!  Keep your fingers crossed!

down 175 lbs
on May 24, 2008 12:15 pm
I went for my 6 month checkup and was down 175 lbs.  My origional goal from the Dr. was to loose 200 lbs in the first year.  Now she has changed it to 275 in the first year.  I hope I can make it!  I am loosing fast.  She said I should go back down to 3-3oz meals and leave out the carbs.  I thought that would be no problem.  I am at 3-5oz meals and eat some rice and pasta.  I am not having an issue with giving up the carbs but am having trouble going back down to 3 oz meals.  I am trying to balance this out with more exersize!  Keep your fingers crossed!

Buying a new house
on February 23, 2008 1:29 pm
I have been eating fine for over a month now with no issues, even with chicken.  It killed me the first week I was to eat meat.

So we decide to buy a new house and I am waiting for the preapproval.  The house we love is snatched from us while we are witing.  I am deathly ill when eating anything durring this time.  I find another house and am still waiting for the lenders approval.  Again I am so ill.  Broth, water, you name it.

I always was a rock before surgery.  Never felt stressed really.  Not even on my wedding day:)  It has been the same since surgery except for this.  My husband and I really wanted the first house and that made me ill to loose it.  Then the second house fell into out laps and it is a better deal.  Even has a big pool for water aerobics!  I can't wait!

My Story

Let me start by saying that I come from a big family.  My mother is 5'11 and 380 lbs, my brother is 6'5 and around 400 lbs.  Our grand dad was 6 foot and around 500 lbs.  My mother raised me to have pride in myself and lives by the motto big is beautiful.  This has been wonderful for my self-confidence but has made it hard to loose weight.  I remember being 4'11 and weighing 99 lbs in first grade.  I did not realize I was a fat kid, until we had a sub teacher that weighed and measured us all in the middle of class.  He was astounded by my weight and made a big deal out of it.  I remeber asking my mom if I was different and she said yes because I was a beautiful amazonian princess.  (Thank God for mothers - they can always sooth a little girls tears:)

So I am fighting genetics, great self image as well as a love for taste.  I am a pleasure eater - meaning if it doesn't taste good I will not eat it.

Because of my positive self image and realtivly good health (until 2 years ago) it took me 2 years to decide that surgery was really for me.  After having a PE and almost dying I started researching it in 2003.  I was afraid and after getting aproved in 2005, but before surgery, I almost died.  I found out the hard way I was a bad diabetic.  30 days before my RNY was schedualed I was rushed to ER with gangegreene.  Had to have my right butt cheek amputated.  Surgon told everyone I would not live.  Spent 30 days in the hospital and 60 more days off of work.  It took 2 years for the wound to fill in and heal.  At that point I knew that I had to have the RNY to save my life.

I was in a good place mentally about surgery and not scared anymore.  I went in for surgery on 10/29/07.  I woke up and had to ask if I had been thru surgery already.  I have had no pain and no problems.  My surgeon  was wonderful.  This has been the best thing that I have ever done for myself.  I am thankful for the oppertunity.

So far I have only been sick a few times - Chew your food very slowly:)  I have stuck to the St. V yellow diet sheets almost religiously.  They are strict.  My friend had surgery 5 months ago at Methodist and can have bread already.  None for me for a year, per the yellow sheets.
