Surgeon Testimonial

Jeffrey Baker M.D.
I had surgery on 7/21/09 and I would recommend Dr. Baker to anyone! He has a very gentle bedside manner. He is VERY knowledgeable and can answer any question you throw at him with a thorough answer on the spot! His mild manner was appealing to me. He isn't one of those surgeons with a god complex or one who treats you as if he is doing you a HUGE favor by doing your surgery. He and his office are easy to get in contact with if needed post op. I had to page him to ask a question about one of my incisions and he called me back within half an hour. He didn't make me feel stupid for paging him for a simple answer to a simple question and in fact thanked me for calling him. I could seriously go on and on about how great he is but there isn't enough space for that....

Taking the first step!
on April 23, 2008 12:00 am

So I finally took the first step to having surgery.  I went to an informational meeting at Dr. Lederers FUMC office.  It took me some time to decide whom I wanted to perform my surgery.  I then realized I once told myself that if I was going to do the surgery I wanted Dr. Lederer to do it.  I always felt he was so kind to his patients and truly did what was best for them.  I was impressed the first time I performed an UGI study for him.  The patient had commented on how disgusting the contrast was so he tasted it!  He said he would never make his dog drink that stuff!  And insisted we find an alternative.  He would come in all hours for emergencies rather than leaving his patients in the hands of a resident physician.  Not that the residents were bad.....I just think it means more when a staff dr. comes in on their off time to check on a patient who needs them.  Any whoooo.......So I was surprised to be sitting with only 1 other person for the session.  I had scheduled my consultation with the Dr. for after and within an hour and thirty minutes I was on my way.........next step is clarifying my insurance requirements.  I made an appointment to see the phsycologist but it isn't until June 2nd so I may see if I can find a different one that can get me in sooner.  I'm afraid he'll think I'm nuts and make me go through 4 months of intensive therapy before he'll approve me...........probably not but you never know.......I worked with a woman who had to do that and she didn't seem that off to me....Then there is the nutritionist I am waiting to hear from them to find out when my first appt will be.  So now I just wait!
