Surgeon Testimonial

Terry Simpson, M.D. F.A.C.S.
Dr Simpson is a straight talker and I love that. He is very funny and easy to talk to. His office staff is amazing. Greg, and Jamie and Darcy really make you feel at easy. The aftercare seems to be the biggest part of the program. I feel like the surgery is just the beginning! I will update more after my surgery.

31 WEEKS and 83 pounds gone FOREVER - 279 pounds
30 minutes ago

I went in for my monthly check up yesterday.  I am down to 279!  That is 67 pounds down since surgery and a total loss of 83 pounds!! It is amazing .. I of course wish everything would move faster and I could get to goal sooner .. but I know this is a long road and I am ready for the ENTIRE ride.  I am just so excited by the little things every day.  I love getting into the next size down.  I love that my rings, shoes and even purses fit differently when I try them.  I wish my shoes would stay fitting as I have so many love.  I think woman love shoes because no matter what size your pants went up to shoes usually fit.  ;)  Well now mine are getting to big.

I am a little anxious for the holidays this year, as it will be my first since surgery.  Holidays seem to bring out all the YUMMY food.  For that reason Troy and I are going to have a scaled down Thanksgiving at home with just the two of us.  It will be hard because Troy is such an amazing cook and always makes everything so delicious.  I will try to stay strong!  :)  Troy and I are planning a trip to Minnesota this January and I am hoping to fit in a regular seat for the first time in my adult life.  I do love the free drinks in first class but I am more excited to sit in that COACH seat and buckle my seat belt.  It will be a silent celebration in my head ... I will then order a drink and PAY for it .. it will be the best drink I ever pay for ... I just know it!  Troy and I are also looking forward to going to a Cardinals game in December.  I have not been able to go to a sporting event in years ... again due to not fitting in seats.  I do not understand football at all ... but I am excited to go and see the stadium and spend a day with my hubby.  Something most would do without second thought and I am finally able to do the same .. it is a huge thing for me.

I hope everyone else is doing well .. thank you for all your support .. it means the world to me.  MUCH LOVE OH FAMILY!

10-23-08 weigh in
on November 11, 2008 5:55 pm

I am getting bad at staying on top of this.  I do not want to stop .. I know it keeps me accountable.

I weighed in on 10-23-08 and I weighed 284.  That means I lost 13 pound since 9-25-08.  I am slowing wayyyyyyyyyy down and do not think I have lost anything at all this month.  I have my weigh in next week and I believe I will be getting a fill.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Not a good month PART #2 September 2008
on October 24, 2008 8:39 pm
I just realized I never logged in and shared my horrible weigh in.  I gained weight as suspected in September.   I came in at 297 which means I gained 2.5 pounds from my August weigh in.  It was hard but I had to pick myself up and realize it was a month I lost and I could not get it back.  That was hard for me but I knew I could not let it get to me!

Not a good month
on September 23, 2008 9:53 pm
So I am super frustrated .. I just typed a long blog and it got lost.  Very irritating after it was a rant if you will.   I will recap BRIEFLY. I have been having a tough month.  I have had my period for three weeks.  Think it is the new birth control and weight loss.  I am going to the doc tomorrow to see if I can get it changed.  I just had my annual and my test came back great so I am not to worried .. but it sucks because any woman knows how horrible a normal period is .. let alone a three week one.  :(I also tweaked my neck almost two weeks ago and have been going to a chiropractor because I cannot turn my neck.  Which means no work out .. never thought that would bum me out so much.

I am nervous for my weigh in Thursday.  I think I will be the same as last month.  First week I lost two pounds .. but the last three I have gained it back slowly.  Very big bummer .. but I will be strong and move on and do better.  Thank you all for your messages and support .. I love my OH family.
HUGS to all!

19 WEEKS and 51 pounds gone FOREVER - 294 pounds [Edit Post]
on August 28, 2008 10:45 pm

Well I am OFFICIALLY under 300 since it was confirmed at the doctors office.  I know my scale is good.   However, I do not count it for sure until it is recorded there.  :)

I am down another 13 pounds from last month.  I have lost 51 pounds since surgery and a total of 68 pounds.

I did not get another fill today.  Talked to the doc and I told him sometimes I am not hungry for hours and other times I am hungry in about two hours.  He asked me to pay attention to the foods that hold me for longer.  I am not drink at ALL around meals.  I wait at least an hour but try to go 1 1/2 hours.

I am so proud of myself.  For the first time I have stuck with a weight loss plan ... I am sick of people saying "oh you had surgery .. that makes it easier"!!  Are you kidding me.  People are crazy and not educated about this surgery because banded patients have to make decisions every day to eat right.  It is not like gastric bypass .. we do not get sick if we eat sweets .. we just have to say no.  I am lucky that I do not have a lot of these people in my life.  Most are very supportive.

I hope everyone else is doing well and has a safe holiday weekend.

Thank you for stopping by to read and even more thanks to all that leave comments and messages of support .. it means the world to me.

My Story

My name is Amy and I am 33 years old.  I am married to a wonderful man.  We have been together for about 7 years and married for just over a year now. He loves me just the way I am and is against me having surgery.  He thinks I need to loose a little weight to be healthy, but does not think I need surgery.  He is being supportive and made it clear that it was my choice.  I have been overweight my entire life.  I do not want to be thin/skinny ... I just want to get healthy.  Looking good will be a nice side effect.  I tried to have Gastric Bypass about 5 years ago.  I am now glad that I didn't.  I know Lap Band will be safer for me.  Not only for the surgery but for my life afterwards also.  I love this website and the people on it.  I have met some amazing people that have been there for me to answer questions and just give me the you can do it attitude I need!!  To everyone here I wish I could thank each and every one of you ... but this will have to do ... THANK YOU! ;)
