Well, you can see what today's date is up above. I'm at the tail end of my pre-op testing.
I had an appt. with my PCP yesterday. He didn't say much. He asked where I was at with my testing.
Done:
EKG
EGD
Chest X-ray
Stress Echocardiogram Test
Nutrition Evaluation
Bariatric Seminar
Almost done, although I want to have a sleep study done because I think I have sleep apnea. My husband has been telling me for years that he thinks I have sleep apnea. As time has gone on and the heavier I've gotten, even my kids say they can now hear me snoring all the way in their rooms which are upstairs, that's bad. He seems a bit reluctant to call for authorization for the test, and I'm not sure why. I'm gonna harass him till he does it! I mean if I do have it I want to know regardless of bariatric surgery, but if I do, it should help in the approval process of the surgery with my insuarance ya know.
Ha, I stopped after writing this to call my PCP office to ask about the sleep study. Looks like his gal in the office submitted to the insurance for authorization and is waiting on the ok, to put in orders for a sleep study. I guess I'll have to wait till early next week to hear if they said it is approved.
I have an appointment for a Gastroenterologis Consulation next Tuesday 1/15. I'm not sure what to expect.
Then the last thing to get done is the Psyc Evaluation. Now this has been a hard one. I live in a small town, so that #1 make it hard to fine someone close to home to do it. Then there is the matter of $. Some people locally that I have talk to had to pay out of pocket to see a Psycologist or Psycotherapist. I did NOT want to pay out of pocket, I mean crap, that is why I have ins! So finally I called my ins. and found 2 Psycotherapist that are in my network. One said she didn't do Psyc Evaluations for Bariatric surgery, but I did find one that did and was willing to bill my ins. I had an appointment yesterday evening. She was really nice. I learned that she was $140/50min! Holy moly. She said my ins. should pay. She continued to tell me that she usually sees persons for approx. 3-4 sessions before she feels comfortable in that she has enough info. to do a Psyc eval report. WOW. I was hoping to go only once, twice at the most. BLAH. I have to admit I liked her. And darn it she had a way of getting you to answer her. LOL I think it was ok. I go back to see her on the Monday 1/14 and hopefully we can squeeze the 3rd visit in by the end of next week. I also hope she says she has enough by the 3rd time to do her report! She also mentioned that the ins. does not pay for the report, so I will have to pay for it out of pocket, $140. Oh, well I just want it done!
I hope all of this stuff gets done ASAP so my Dr. can submit it to the Bariatric Clinic for apporval! That is the part I still can't calm down about. I am so worried they will DENY me!
