So I got no answer from my ins. last evening. I waited and waited and the gal never called me like she said she might. But "might" I guess was the key word.
As my stomach, still in knots, turned I decided to call this am. I called around 10:30am. I talked to the nice gal there, Patricia. She placed me on hold to check my status. She got back on the phone and let me know they hadn't yet given a response. She told me "they still have it for review" She said she would probably have an answer by today and said she would call me. So now I sit and fester.
They have 3 days to respond with a decision. That is there time line. They received the packet with my info. early Monday morning and so that means tomorrow is the final day. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm dying and no one can say anything to make it better!
It's been quite some time since I posted an update, but here we go.
My pre-op testing, evals, blah blah, have all been completed. I completed all of that by the request of my Bariatic Clinic at Stanford by the end of January. My PCP kinda lagged on getting things rolling and getting it compiled! They where driving me nuts.
Presidents day Monday I got a phone call from a gal at Stanford telling me "where is all your paperwork" See it was suppose to be turned into Stanford by end of Jan. and it was already more than a week into February. Stanford says they like to have atleast 6 weeks before your pre-op appt, mine is 3/14, to submit to your ins. for approval. Now we were at 4 weeks and they hadn't received the paper work from my PCP. So there I go to my PCP squacking about getting it to Stanford. I got a copy of everything for my records and had them send it all over to Stanford ASAP.
So finally Stanford had it all, but had to review it. So last week finally I was told by Stanford that they submitted it to my ins. on Monday, January 25th. I called my ins. on Wed the 27th and they said they had yet to receive anything. So I call Stanford and left a message. The next day, Thursday the 28th I hear back from Stanford saying that they had been trying to fax it to my Ins. but kept getting an error. I call my ins. and they said "well why didn't they call us?" So the gal gave me 2 fax numbers and told me to tell them to follow up with her with a phone call.
Anyhoo, after many calls and back and fourth, I called my Ins. just an hour ago and they said they did finally receive my packet for approval! YEAH. The gal at my Ins. was sooooooooooo sweet. Her name is Patricia. I told her my stomach is in knots over this approval process. She tried to comfort me by telling me that my packet looks very much in order. She said it goes on the ins. co. Dr.'s desk for review and approval. She said she may have a answer as quick as this afternoon! I asked if it was ok if I called her tomorrow morning as I need some kind of peace of mind. She said, "oh dear, don't worry yourself so much, everything looks in order and I see your surgery is at the end of this month, I'm sure it will be ok, I can call you as soon as I know if you'd like, hopefully with good news" I said "OH YES! that would be awsome!" She said "I'll call you so you can get those butterflies out of your tummy!"
Soooooooooooooooo, today may be the day that I find out if I'm approved or not! If not, today forsure by tomorrow. I hope they say yes, because if I get denied I will just have to crawl under a rock!
