Hello, Jackie. It is my prayer that you will be well w/your upcoming surgery. I recently had surgery (May 14--lap band) and it was a success. All is well. I went to the doctor 1 wk out and I am down by 10 lbs already. That is encouraging for/to me. It seems as if the waiting period is the longest to have a range of various emotions---excitemen t, nervousness, the "This is really happening" surreal feeling...But you are going to joining numerous others on the loser's bench. You know, Losers Are Winners here. Be encouraged! Be motivated! Be inspired!

Almost to the New Year and 30lbs gone.  This is a trip.  Its taking longer than I thought it would but thats ok. Maybe my skin will shrink at my belly.  202lbs goal was 200lbs by x-mas. Almost made it.  Eating less and less. My MAN is back and I'm hoping things will be good for us, and my weight melts away with the extra activitiy!!!!!!! Until next time.

#3 Is the Charm
on October 26, 2007 7:05 am
Had my 3rd fill. Oh boy what a difference. Not shovelling anymore. Have to be careful when I eat now.  Half a cup of food is what I'm tolerating at the moment. And it takes 15-20 min to get it down. When I eat too much oh boy not a good feeling.  Its like it wants to come up but I keep saying "Oh no you don't you better stay down".  Went back to just protein now fish and beans mainly.  Still alittle nervous about chicken.  I'm hoping to see some more weight loss for the remainder of this month at 205lbs now.     200lbs here we come.   Watch out now. Roll

No Change
on August 31, 2007 12:17 pm
Hi every one, well its been 3 weeks since my 1st fill. No weight gain or loss noted at this time.   will wait to see what the next fill brings.  What I have experienced is a feeling of tightness  in my back when I eat too fast or not chew my food so good. I call on one of my kids to beat me in back to make it go down or I walk or take a drink of smething.  Now that can be uncomfortable.  Still havent experienced any nausea or throwing up yipee.
I've  been  travelling a little so my exercise routine is a little off.  Will get back on track now that I'm back home.
Even though I haven't lost any more weight, I do feel good. And I'm told by staff at the YMCA that the way I'm doing things is a good way.  I may not need to had surgery for excess skin hanging.  Some of my clothes are alittle looser my daughter says I should start to buy some smaller one's I'm just not ready yet.  They were tight to begin with they are beginning to fit the way they were intended to fit.
This journey is an amazing one being on the loosing side of life is just wonderful.

The "FILL"
on August 7, 2007 6:07 am
Well had my first fill.  Must say it wasn't what I expected. I have had to access ports on kids before.  But with shoe on the other foot I know what its like now.  Just a little prick into the port and then the filling begins.   Got 2cc this time and can gulp water without any problem.  I'm supposed to be on clear liquids for the next 3 days tried for 12hrs then added a protien bar.  I really chewed it up good. No problems.  But I had better adhere to the regimen. So just liquids today.
I'm down to 215lbs.  I like the scale in the office. It tells you how much water is in your body, how much, muscle lean body mass , fat etc.  Compared to my visit before I'm going in the right direction Melissa says.
Now with the "Fill" I hope to have some restriction and some more weight loss.

My Story

Hi I am a 42yr old single mother of 3 with hypertension, depression and overweight. I have been on this weight loss journey for many years. Phen-phen giving me the most loss of 50lbs but you all know what happened by a yr later the weight came back plus some. Well Aug 13 2006 was the day I made the decision to get more help. Dr. Blackstones seminar inspired me and reassured me that a healthier me could be attained. So I spoke to my Dr. and asked what do I need to do get the process going. She sent me to Dr. Blackstones bariatric services at Scottsdale Healthcare and they set me on the path for insurance approval. 6months of Dr. documented weight loss attempted diet changes, excersise program, and psych help. And now today I have a surgery date 06/28/07. My family, friends, and co-workers are supporting me to the max and I am so excited.
