Well just to update. I went to Landstuhl to have my pulminary function test. Everything went fine. I saw my PCM last week for the results of the Asthma test and the results from all the blood and urine tests he sent me to do the last time I saw him.
My PCM said that I passed my PFT and don't need to go any more meds for my asthma...Yay! I didn't want to go on a steroid inhaler. He also said that most of my blood tests were fine. My sugar was fine, My cholesterol was a little high, but nothing that I need medication for. He said that there was some protein in my urine and since every time I come into the doctors office I have slightly elevated blood pressure he wants to put me on blood pressure medication. I asked what the side effects were and he said it is a dieuretic so I may have to pee a lot. So I agreed to go on this medicaton. I don't like being on another medication but if it helps me to be healthy then I will do it. Hopefully it will only be temporary and I can go off after I get approved for this surgery.
I start the LEARN class in Jan. I so wish that I didn't have to wait 2 months to get into this class. It seems like time is dragging. I have heard that in the new year tricare is going to make it more difficult to get approved for the surgery. I don't know if that is just here at Spangdahlem or all over. I know every base is different in what they need for you to do to get qualified. I asked my PCM about this and he said he didn't know anything about it. He said that it's not up to him whether I get approved. He said that he fully supports me on this. That was nice to hear. I guess I just need to hang in there and rely on the friends that I have made who are also going through this to keep me informed. I'm sure once the class starts I can get my hands on more information. I'm so ready to be done and meeting with the surgeon but I have to do my part.
