Surgeon Testimonial

Brian B. Quebbemann, M.D., F.A.C.S.
I loved Dr Q as soon as I met him. He spent lots of time with us teaching us all about the surgeries. The best part about The New rogram is that they have a ZERO mortality rate, and that's the kind of Dr I wanted to do my surgery!rnrnThe New Program has a Two year follow up and everyone that works there are all wonderful to deal with.rnrnDr Q's surgical competence is why I decided he should be the one to do my surgery!rnrnTo be perfectly honest though, I haven't seen Dr Q since before he preformed my surgery. I've had follow-ups with others on his staff, but most of my appointments are on days when he's in surgery.rnrnHe does the talking before hand, and makes sure you pick the right surgery for you, then the rest of the staff handle it from there. I guess that why he's a surgeon!rnrnHe does attend the Lifestyle Management classes, but becasue of the time, I'm unable to go to them. rnrn

Yesterday was my 18 month checkup. OK, so it was a month early, but I wanted to get in before the end of the month for insurance reasons.

I had the blood tests done 2 weeks ago, 11 vials worth! I always dread going to see the DR, thinking she's going to be disappointed in me or tell me something bad, it's silly, and I have no clue why I feel that way.

Hubby took the day off and went with me. The DR is about an hour away so I love when he can go.

My DR told me she was very pleased and very proud of me and that I should be proud of myself too. I've lost 198 pounds, and she thought I should revise the personal  goal I had set for myself. If I was happy with my weight then I shouldn't stress out about loosing more. Hubby was very happy to hear her say that, he's been worried I'd get sick trying to loose more.

Of course she's not trying to discourage me either. She's a wonderful supportive DR.

A few bad things - I'm a bit dehydrated, my B levels are still very low she's says because I don't eat breads and such, so I need to take B complex again daily and she thinks I have a heart murmur.

I have to get another bone density scan done on Friday and I'm seeing my primary for an EKG and to keep an eye on the murmur.

She said it's better to keep an eye on it, and it isn't anything to worry about. There's a chance I've had it for years but with all the weight I was carrying it just couldn't be heard before.

All in all a good check-up!  All I want really is to loose another 3 pounds, so my total loss will be over 200 pounds!

Went to visit a dear friend in her new house in Santa Barbara this past weekend. She was having a BBQ for her daughter (couples baby shower). It was so much fun and I saw people I haven't seen in years.

Most didn't recognize me, and that was really fun.

My girlfriends younger brother and I started talking, we've always been friends, but he told me how proud he was of me and that meant so much. He asked me if I was treated differently by people, of course the answer was yes. One thing I told him and I firmly believe, I know who my real friends are, they treat me the same as before. He asked me if he treated me the same and I said, Yes you do, and I love you for it!

I've lost 197 pounds now, wearing size 12's and proud of it. Most of my "normal sized" girlfriends like to say hey, that's the size I wear, and it makes me so happy!

I did have a few unfrosted cupcakes over the weekend, but I watched everything else I ate and walked quite a bit.

Life is good!
