John Ryland Scott M.D., F.A.C.S.
Very professional and a nice man. I trusted him immediately. It seemed that he was down to earth and someone that you could talk with.

After pre-op MD visit 2/22/07
on February 22, 2007 3:16 pm
Everything is set for a go on March 5th.  Tests/blood work is fine. All I have to do is visit the hospital and pay the man. Then the weekend before, liquid diet/colon cleaning. Down to the wire.

I have a pre-op appt today with Dr Scott.  I heard that he will send you over to the hospital for pre-registration and any additional testing that needs to be done. Also they will give you a preview of the suite of rooms that the Gastric Bypass patients will stay in and meet the staff caring for them. The majority of nursing staff are previous GBS patients themselves. Therefore, they understand what the patients are going thru. I'm hoping they will be as sympathic too.  There is nothing like dealing with a thin person who use to be heavy. In my dealings, mostly they kinda lookdown on the heavy people now.  I guess they forget from where they come from, where they use to be, heavy like me.
I'll post more later after my appt.

Woohoo, surgery date is March 5th. Pre-op visit is Feb 22. Looks like it's down hill now.  Andy has his scheduled for April 16th. That gives me 6 weeks to get thru surgery & heal to help him thru his surgery.

the beginning

It seems like Dr Scotts office is making everyone jump thru a series of hoops before getting in to actually see him.  First appointments with nutritionist, Mary Beth. Weigh in at 233. I'm considered a lightweight to some.  4 weeks of diet & exercise. Then back for another consult. She may then let us go on to see Dr Scott himself.
