Surgeon Testimonial

Darius Ameri, M.D.
Dr. Ameri is the best...he was very informative, and very understanding of the way that obese people are treated in the world..he always treated me with respect and did not treat me like a child that had done something wrong. My primary care mentioned to me the Dr. Ameri was too nice to be a surgeon because surgeons usually did not get personal with you just did the surgery and that was it...not Dr. Ameri. My opinion of him has never changed...if I had to choose again I would choose him in a heart beat. His office staff is wonderful...always helpful and attentive and very respectful. There is really nothing I can say that I did not like about him. Just speak with him ask him anything he feels there is no such thing as a stupid question and he will take as much time as you need to get your questions asked..I was never rushed out of the office. Aftercare is very important to Dr. Ameri and his staff they are right on the ball making sure you understand what it is that you are suppose to do and make sure you do it...yes he does have a structured aftercare program in which you MUST follow and if you do...then you should not have any problems. Dr. Ameri went over all of the risks up to and including possible fatalities. Rating Dr. Ameri if on a scale from 1-10 I would definately rate him a 9.9 because no one is perfect but he is close...I believe surgical competence and bedside manner are both important especially when dealing in the field with obese people...the world can sometimes be a cruel place when it comes to being obese so having surgical competence to be able to help people in this way and just treating people like a person not a disease.

Jannine, I just read your profile page for the first time and it was so encouraging for me. I too was opposed to the surgery and actually bit the head off my PCP when he suggested it. But then started looking at my 3 yr old and realized I wanted her to be proud of her mom and not embarrassed by having a big mother. So I have set my consult and I will see you at the meeting on 8/8. Feb 15, 2006: As of the last Friday I lost another 7lbs...for a grand total of loss of 13lbs....wahoooooo.....only have 8 left to go.....keep me in your prayers.....

February 9th: Ok well a few days after my last input I went in to the office to have my second consult forgot to mention that I lost 6lbs in three weeks only 14+ to go before my surgery....please pray for me...I have talked to my nutritionist and we are doing the boost drinks for breakfast and lunch (but still hungry) and then a real dinner....I have slipped and fallen off the diet wagon a few time this month...everyone in the family was sick with one thing or another and it was easier to just order out...I know bad bad bad...but cooking 4 different meal was not in the stars for me either..I have been journaling in a website called www.my-calorie-counter.com and I have to say it helps me a lot...I can see my actual calorie intake and other stuff like sodium and fat grams so it has got me actually looking at stuff...I had something remarkable happen the last time I went food shopping...I was actually looking at the labels....can you imagine that...but I realized but watching the sodium intake that is what the problem is as far as my headaches are concerned...it is unbelievable how much sodium companies put in their foods...well anyone....I hope all of the losers out here will be able to send me words of encouragement and motivation for this next month so I can get thru and lose the 14+ I have to before the surgery...
