One month post op

May 23, 2012

Weight loss is going slower than I hoped for but is steady so I won't complain much. Down 20 lbs with not allot of exercise yet due to a very busy home life but plan on kicking it in high gear for the rest of the summer.  I managed a quick move the other day that caused my side to hurt and be sore again which really socked me but guess fully healing can take awhile. No issues with types of food or being sick just still hard to get in all my fluids and protein intake is still not high enough. I'm just sick of shakes at this point and look forward to the day when it's not an issue.  I have moved back down into a size 14 so that's a big plus plus!!

First post op appointment

May 23, 2012

1 May 2012- Was down 10 lbs at my one week post-op Dr Appointment today which is actually 25 lbs down from my very first Appointment on 6 March when I first started seeking information on bariatric surgery.  I’m thrilled to say the least just because I feel this is finally the “tool” I’ve been needing in order to not only obtain weight loss but maintain the weight loss once it happens.  My incision areas are still bruised and tender but are also itching so I know they are healing right up.  I already started using “Scar Zone” cream on all the incisions because it seemed to really help minimize the scaring after my knee surgeries.  My energy level is almost fully restored and just in time since I head back to work tomorrow.     The challenge now is to drink all my fluids, get in all my protein and remember to stop drinking anything 30 minutes before I eat anything.  And on that note I am eating things like cream of chicken soup, applesauce,  and scrambled eggs with no problems but I don’t think I am really ready to try much more yet even thought I was given the green light to try a few more things.

Day 2 post op

May 23, 2012

25 April 2012-  The procedure went well and I am now home from the hospital.  I’m in some pain but not enough to want to take the nasty liquid pain meds I came home with.  Right now it’s all about getting in all the fluids and protein which has proven more difficult than I had hoped.  I know time will assist with this goal so I have faith and will simply slow down and let my body heal properly and look forward to getting back on the move as soon as possible! The most depressing part is coming home heavier than before surgery but on the flip side I am thankful for the IV fluids that have kept me going when I’ve been unable to get down much liquid.
