Surgeon Testimonial

Fred Simon M.D.
My first impression of Dr. Simon was that he wasn't very personable. I was a little shy and reserved about asking questions, but as time went on I became more comfortable. Plus I would rather have a surgeon who can answer every question for me and make me feel comfortable with the surgery than a surgeon who is just being nice. The other staff members in the office were a big help too. The nurse I worked with, Patricia, was absolutely amazing! She had so much patience when it came to me asking a ton of questions. Patricia really helped me through the whole process. rnMy experience with Dr. Simon's office was a good one.

Been a long time...
on June 12, 2009 8:00 pm
Hey all,
It's been a long time since I've been on here. I had surgery in September and it is now June; I have lost about 108 pounds. I'm so happy to have made it this far but I still get frustrated with not being able to eat certain foods that I used to love. I have to admit that I've been slacking lately with my excercise but I plan to get back into that groove. I am in the middle of transferring to a much better school and moving to Miami. I also found a great guy back in February and we're still going strong. He is amazing! I told him about the surgery and about my past "life" over being overweight.  He is very supportive of me and my goals and is always there when I need some encouragement. He is always there to reassure me of myself and how far I've come.
Life is going pretty great right now! I don't have any regrets about the surgery, even when I do feel down about the foods I can and can't eat.

I will try to keep up with my posts and updates.

Til then...

Almost 2 months..
on November 11, 2008 8:05 am
So I know I haven't updated in awhile so thought it was about time. The 24th will be 2 months post op for me. I've been doing pretty good. I've been having some pains, but they're going away. I've lost 42.5 pounds so far, which is good, but not as good as I thought.
Other than the weight loss and some pain, not much has been going on. I'm excited for the holidays (my favorite time of year). Hopefully they'll be great. =)
I'll keep ya posted guys...

Feeling Better...
on September 30, 2008 8:17 pm
Well tomorrow will make a week post op for me. I'm feeling better everyday. I have my follow-up appointment with my surgeon tomorrow and I'm just hoping everything is good and normal. I'm starting to miss real food, since all I've been having is liquids.

I'm really glad I found this website. I'm looking foward to meeting new people and sharing stories. If there's any advice anyone has for me, please feel free to share!! I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

Well til next time...

My Story

Well I'm 25 years old, and have pretty much always been overweight.  When I was younger it never bothered me, mainly because I never knew it was a problem. When I started middle school is when I think I began to realize just how important looks were to society and my peers. Ever since this point, I've had low self esteem and zero confidence. In high school it didn't bother me as much just because I had great friends that loved me for me. Because of being big all of my life, it was hard to be happy in a relationship because I wasn't happy with myself. I've tried almost every diet you can think of, done every type of excercise; I've lost weight, but not enough to make a difference. Once I gained weight, I usually stayed at that point for a year or two.
I started thinking about WLS a few years ago. I've realized that I'm young and now is the time to get serious about my health and do something about it. The whole process of getting approved was so nerve-racking for me. And the faster my surgery date approached, the more nervous and anxious I became.
I just had the surgery on September 24, 2008  I still feel anxious and nervous. I can't wait to start seeing results and becoming more healthy. I know I will have a better life.
